| Message |  we lived there 66-69. dad was in 62fis. I had a science teacher, Barbra Abbott in Gwinn who's husband Lt. Robert Abbott was a POW, he came out alive (thank God) does anybody know where they might be now, it's getting late in life and I would like to send them a letter. | Message | K.I. was my first assignment right out of Tech School. Stationed at K.I. from Nov 1964 to Dec 1966. Assigned to the 410 AEMS (now AMS) Autopilot shop. Lived down in the hole in the AMS barracks. Was asleep when President Kennedy was shot. My roommates and I did not believe it when we were awaken. Remember coming back to the barracks from the Movies we just squated/grabed our ankles and skied down the hill. Often went to Rosie's to make passes at the waitresses and helped Rosie make Apple Pies. ON our way to the Gwinn Inn's bar. Went from snow bound to heat waves. Transfered to McCoy AFB with TDY to Kadena. Returned to McCoy and found orders assigning me to Guam. Retired after 22 years of which I spent 11 years, 9 months overseas, Went PCS to Guam, Okinawa, Korea, Viet Nam, Thailand, and last assignment to England. Rode the Launch Truck on Guam as a "Hard Hat". Made 22 combat missions out of Anderson on the B52D's. Was RON to UTapo when my son was scheduled to be born back on Guam. Worked for 25 years for Sikorsky Aircraft on their Black Hawk helicopters. Both for US Army and International customers. |

| Message | Stationed in 410th Supply -MICAP and Civil Engineers from March '83 -- July '86! Remember swimming in Lake Superior in March with ice still floating! Crazy! I'm a professional writer, now. I've written several novels and work in Hollywood as a script consultant! Part owner of our own production company. Pretty fair ghost writer, as well! | Message | I worked in Sage Bldg in the Publication Distribution Office (PDO)from May 1985 to April 1987. Ended up going Palace Chase. Been fulltime guard ever since. Miss my old boss and friends I worked with. Nice place to start your AF Career. Would love to go back and see what it looks like. Live at 519 Globemaster St.  |

| Message | I am one of the daughters of Albert Leroy Evans, Boom Operator who died in a KC-135 crash on 9/19/79 at Castle AFB, California. Our mother, Irene, passed in February, 1990. I am honored to see that our father's name is mentioned on your list of those your organization is honoring. We were stationed at K.I. Sawyer from 1970-73. We lived on Thunderchief Drive (Avenue). I attended Gwinn HS from 70-73. My sisters Cathy and Laurie attended the elementary and middle schools. Our late sister Patricia passed in 2001. We were stationed at Barksdale AFB, LA in 1973 and then Castle AFB, CA 9n 1977. We are so honored that the Air Refueling "past and present" families have maintained the ALBERT L. EVANS MEMORIAL AWARD. If anyone would like to contact us for stories, or what not, We would love hear from you. | Message | Jet Engine Mechanic and Crew Chief on the F-106 Fighter. Also one of the founders of the Sawyer Six Project. | Message | I was AMS Bomb/Nav - a flight line weenie- '72-3. Some really extreme weather to deal with on the ramp at times, but we lived in part of an old mansion a block from Superior in Marquette and that big lake makes for more moderate weather than on base. Have to make a trip back and see if I can reconize anything! |
