MessageI plan to purchase a 2005 sv1000 soon to replace my ageing superhawk.
Noticed a few other riders have owned both these bikes as well.
Interested in rider opinions of the 2005 sv1000 and best price information.

Thanks,

MessageHi AndyW

Great Site, Just bought a naked sv1000 from MotorBiking in Bournemouth. It had 987 mlies on the clock and was spotless , Its got a Pryamid undertray tail & tidy fitted.
Not sure if this has happened to any one else but after finding an unavoidable pothole the legal size number plate caught the rear trye got dragged backwards, got to work only to find a 5 and a 3 left. is this common ? any suggestions?

MessageREGARDING FRONT SUPENSION SETTINGS, here's a setup that seems to be a good compromise between tautness for fast cornering and also enough compliance for the terribly potholed and rutted roads around where I live. I weigh approximately ten and a half stone bare naked by the way, that's 147lbs and god knows what in kg.

Front spring preload : A little more than position 4, maybe 4.25.

Rebound damping : 3/4 turn out from fully home.

Compression damping : 1/2 turn out from fully home.

I have no idea whatsoever if these settings are proportionally correct, all I know is that they work well for me so I'm leaving them alone. I did have slightly stiffer settings on my one previous change from the factory setup but the front end was too harsh for speeds much below 50 MPH or so.
I hope this will have been of some assistance to fellow owners.

Best regards,

Mike

MessageHello, just bought an '04 SV1000 S this afternoon, after 12years with various ZZR's I decided I wanted something different,my local dealer suggested trying the suzuki, and boy is the SV different.Absolutely stunning engine.
I just need to change the handlebars as there a bit too low for my taste.
The salesman said try Helibars.
Has anybody tried these? or any alternative.
Almost forgot! Great website,very informative.
In the words of the Terminator, I will be back.
Regards
Dave
