| Message | I have read the recent discussion on Sunday cricket with interest...
Yes, it is a little unfortunate that the opposition has been disappointing this year. I also agree that the success has been due to all the young guns who have flourished this year.
However, that is no reason why we should act like boors on the field - thinking that we only have to turn up to win the game. We should take pride in our individual and team performance.
Today's game having been voided by Shebbear, we only need, at most, to win two of the last three games. If we win next Sunday (13/8) vs Tivvy, promotion *is* mathematically guaranteed - irrespective of the final two games. However, they will want promotion just as much and so there will be an edge to the game.
Even though they seem to be destined for the drop, the game vs Cullompton (3/9) is all about bragging rights and they will definitely put out their strongest side to play us.
Assuming that we win these games, the game vs Hatherleigh (10/9, but might be postponed as they have a cup match) will still have some bite... We could end the season with a 100% record (only parentless Holsworthy can emulate this - another good reason to properly focus on all the games!). We nearly came a cropper vs Hatherleigh earlier this year, perhaps because of our very attitude!
Let's make this a really excellent season by properly focusing on the games and winning them all - but still having fun.
Play up and play the game! |
