MessageI have read the recent discussion on Sunday cricket with interest...

Yes, it is a little unfortunate that the opposition has been disappointing this year. I also agree that the success has been due to all the young guns who have flourished this year.

However, that is no reason why we should act like boors on the field - thinking that we only have to turn up to win the game. We should take pride in our individual and team performance.

Today's game having been voided by Shebbear, we only need, at most, to win two of the last three games. If we win next Sunday (13/8) vs Tivvy, promotion *is* mathematically guaranteed - irrespective of the final two games. However, they will want promotion just as much and so there will be an edge to the game.

Even though they seem to be destined for the drop, the game vs Cullompton (3/9) is all about bragging rights and they will definitely put out their strongest side to play us.

Assuming that we win these games, the game vs Hatherleigh (10/9, but might be postponed as they have a cup match) will still have some bite... We could end the season with a 100% record (only parentless Holsworthy can emulate this - another good reason to properly focus on all the games!). We nearly came a cropper vs Hatherleigh earlier this year, perhaps because of our very attitude!

Let's make this a really excellent season by properly focusing on the games and winning them all - but still having fun.

Play up and play the game!

Messagei think that when the opposition becomes stronger on a sunday then there will be a more focussed approach..but at the moment its hard to get motivated to play against some of the rubbish thats being served up. we have a very strong sunday team and we r going to keep climbing the leagues..like i said when we have some decent opponents then it can be taken with a more serious approach. peace and love.

MessageHave read with interest the recent "debate" about Sunday Cricket and think one or two really need to accept that Sunday Cricket isn't "for fun" any more. Yes it used to be but it's well accepted that the "serious" stuff starts in Division Two whilst up in Division One most of the Sides field Teams who would, not be out of place in the Saturday A Division , if not quite the Premier. Yes,in Divs 5,4,3 there is an element of "relaxed cricket", but the Sunday League has caught on in recent years to such a degree that a lot of sides, espcially from Division Two up put a great deal of work into their Sunday Cricket. Division Five next year will be the perfect "training ground" for six or seven younger players complemeneted by four or five "old sweats" - that's help prepare young Bradninch players for the meatier League stuff in years ahead. Oh yes, finally, somebody in Bradninch must know who "did the car at the Club" - a concerted effort ought to be made to "out" the arsonist - name and shame !

MessageFrom looking at the stats it is plain to see that its because of the first eleven players, mainly the youngsters that the sunday team has been so succesfull. They might treat it like a laugh which is what it is but they are still getting the job done. Saturday is the day for serious cricket, Sunday is for fun.
