Thank you for visiting my guest book. Thanks to those who have signed it, stating who you're looking for, and about your roots. Do you know the province or area in Poland your family was from? Did your relatives immigrate to America, another country, or is your family still in Poland? I love hearing other people's stories. I find it inspiring. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, Julie

Note:  In the blog title section, under "pages" there is now a "blog title surname index" page. This index I created is for names you write about. If you would like your guestbook post to be a blog post, let me know and I'd be happy to share your story.

MessageHi Jennifer,
Thank you for signing my guestbook. You did exactly what I hoped people would do, list names and information, in the hopes of learning more together, collaboratively. I looked up the Pilarski's on immigration records and saw their immigration record, on Ancestry.com, with you correcting their spelling. I am grateful we can correct spelling on indexes, because then the correct names will pull up in future searches for the rest of us. I have added your surnames to the guestbook index page of the blog, and added the names to the tags on my blog. That should help your surnames pull up in search results like Google. I hope you will soon have more help with the family records back in Poland. Best wishes searching.
Thanks,
Julie smilie

MessageHello Krista,
Finally sitting down to write up answers. I am sincerely apologetic for a 5 month delay in typing up a response. I have found several things which will be of interest to you. I hope it will be OK to answer that on my next blog post which I am writing write now, 23 Jul 2011. I have found the naturalization record, immigration record, and on those records the mention of several relatives. After the post, I will also send a copy of this message and the blog post to your email, to make sure you get the message. More information in about an hour.

MessageMy grandmother's family is Polish. Their names were Helena Polansky and Anton (Anthony) Voytecek. My grandmother explained that they lived a valley called Lipnica Mala and it was located between two mountains: Woman's Mtn and LIttle Mtn. They arrived in the U.S. around the turn of the century. Her younger sister and mother returned to Poland about 12 years later. Anna grew up and married a man named Frank Luka. Half of her family remained in Poland and the other half came to America. I found a paper that stated she lived in a town known as Novytarg, a small farming community. I don't know if that's where the family was from originally or not. If anyone knows of these families I'd love to hear from you. For those of you who are also searching, I wish you success.

MessageI accidentally came across your site while looking up my parent's home town of Zywiec.
I'm a first generation son of parents who came to the U.S. in 1906/07.
My father changed his name from Machon to Mahon.
My mother's last name was Dobosz.
I never knew any of my grandparents. My mother did have sisters still living in Zywiec in the 1930's an 40's smilie smilie

MessageThanks for the nice, positive feedback John! smilie
I know of a Wojcik, and wonder if maybe by chance you have heard of her? Her name is Regina Wojcik, and she married a Jozef Sanetra. They were in the Zywiec area. I know of 3 children they had: Franciszka Sanetra who married Karol Nasluchasz; Ludwik Sanetra who married Karolina Strzawi (their wedding picture is on the blog); and Marianne Sanetra who married a Mr. Stachon. (Marianne Stachon lived in Germany.) Franciszka and Ludwik immigrated to Chicago. See posting 3 Jun 2010 about Regina Wojcik, or the tag "Wojcik".
Thanks,
Julie smilie

MessageWhat a wonderful site this is.
I am searching for information for surname Szczotka from Slaskie Province, Zywiec, Milowka. Poland. My Grandfather Michal (Michael) born around 1875,came to US in 1906 with his wife Katha nee Porenski and 2 daughters and settled in Cleveland, OH. He was 31 in 1906. He died around 1928-1930 in Cleveland. My Father was around 8 at the time and now has memory loss so he is unable to help. I do know that my Grandfather came to US first to stay with his brother Jozef in Cleveland.
At some point they changed the name to Sotka. Any information or referrals would be much appreciated.
