MessageServed aboard the Randolph from Jan 1967 to Oct of 1968 as an ETN3 then ETN2. During my last year I ran the shipboard TV station and radio studio for the Med Cruise and then to Rio. It was an honor to serve on a great ship, under a good captain and a amazing unconventional Admiral (Outlaw) and an amazing crew from the deck hands,BT's, EM's, cooks, Air crews and Marines. Would enjoy hearing from any one on board during that time.(sector7@cox.net)

I was in OI division during the same time. 1960-1963. I am really bad with names but your name seems fimiliar. I have been communicating with Donny Hilliard. I don't know if you remember him.
Contact me if you like and we will catch up. Also any other old folks that were aboard during that time let me know.

MessageMy father Tom McCarthy served on the Randolph from 1956 to 1959. He passed on April 29th of this year. He took a lot of pride in serving in the Navy all these years. Unfortunately we didnt find this page until after his death. He would have been very thrilled to have seen this. He talked about the people he served with and often wondered what happened to a lot of them.

Dad was given military honors at his funeral provided by the American Legion and the US Navy.

In going through his things, we located a lot of his Navy stuff like uniforms, pictures, his tour book and many other things.

Anyway, this webpage gave a lot of information and is very impressive! Thank you!

MessageAs a young midshipman I served aboard the Randolph during the summer of 1961 and was aboard her when she recovered Astronaut Grissom. He was pretty relieved to alight aboard the Randolph's flight deck. I spent three weeks berthed under the catapaults and worked in the engineer spaces ... no wonder I chose a career in the Marine Corps, however I treasure those days and mid-watches aboard the Randolph. Semper Fi to all her shipmates.
