MessageI served aboard Randolph from Feb '60 to May'62 in V-6 Div.ATN2 responsible for support of ARC-27, APS-38, ARN-6, ARC-21 Tacan benches. So many memories from 1st Liberty over St. Patrick's day in March of '60 in New York, Middie Cruise down the St. Lawrence to quebec City over the 4th of July. Recovery of Gus Grissom & Col. John Glenn, to the collision with the Liberian tanker 800 miles of the coast of Charleston, SC. Free diving in Guantanamo Bay, Liberty in St. Thomas V.I. while waiting for weather to clear at Cape Canaveral. Cat shots & traps as an aircrewman aboard the COD. So many good memories from 56 years ago. Learened a lot from the shipmates and crew on being a team player and proud to have served. God Bless

MessageAs a member of HS7 I was on board during the collision I remember being on deck flight when ops were cancelled for refueling. Then on deck we saw a tanker was heading towards us The deck started cheering come on, come on: then as the course didn't change in the final seconds silence was felt, then one person yelled OMG they are going to hit us.
