MessageIn the early 60's my dad was a member of the Navy League and we went on a cruise out of Norfolk, Va. on the Randolph for a day of ASW simulations. Being a kid of 13 or so, this left quite an impression. I still have the 8X10 photo taken of our group on the elevator deck. Let me know if you would like a copy.
Sincerely,

John Reidy

MessageTo Charlie Simpson
Thanks for answering my responce. If you would like, you can E-mail me at genettiesmith@bellsouth.net. If you know anything about Robert Roy Huff I would appreciate that information. He was an electrician's mate aboard the Randolph from '66 until late '68 when he was sent to Long Beach to pick up the Yorktown. I have been looking for him for years. If anyone reading this knows him please contact me.
You are right Charlie, #3 fireroom could properly be call a hell hole. It wasn't any better on the Yorktown.

MessageI served aboard from 65 to 66 and was discharged upon arriving from the Northern Europe cruise. A fine ship and crew. I have many fond memories of my time aboard. Anyone remember the dance in Bergen? I was in the Captain's office as a YNSN. worked with some fine folks. would love to hear from anyone who served with me or during that time.
