MessageDear Ann:

I was thrilled to hear of your film project and have made a contribution. It sounds like it is being done very professionally. We want and need this. The subject of stereotyping of librarians (even Garrison Keillor just a week ago!!)has been a preoccupation of mine since I wrote a paper on it in library school back in 1966. Best wishes and many thanks!

MessageAs a public AND elementary school librarian,I'm thrilled about this project! Actually, slightly talking of a film of this sort for the past two years! Good luck to Ann and her crew...I'd be happy to help in any way. Please don't forget the humour in our profession...our private conversations behind the reference desk are hysterical!

MessageSounds like a fascinating concept. I certainly hope you include the officious New York Public librarian from Breakfast at Tiffany's. Imagine telling Audrey Hepburn to lower her voice!

I would be happy to talk to you about arranging a public screening at the San Francisco Public Library. I wish you much success with the project.

MessagePS -- I have been doing librarian movie reviews for a little while now (mostly published in my library school's online webzine at http://www.sir.arizona.edu/lso/bibliotech/heather.htm, http://www.sir.arizona.edu/lso/bibliotech/heather2.htm, and one that is supposed to be linked from http://timon.sir.arizona.edu/lso/bibliotech/index.html but is down. It is fantastic to find someone with the same librarian/movie interest.

Messagesmilie Woohoo! Librarians rock! And I love my job! I belong to the specialized section of Art Librarianship and work for and Art & Design College in Michigan.

Not only do we librarians have to battle the stereotypes and fantasy types (especially those of us navigating the wonderful world of online dating) but we also get overlooked for numerous jobs that are out there. We are also Information Professionals... So if you need info, got info, need to store info, need to catagorize info, need to access info...we librarians are the ones who can do it all.

smilie I am proud to be a NexGen Librarian,(new, up and coming professionals in the field) one of the many who breaks the stereotypes and make librarianship such a cool and hip career smilie .

Salute to my fellow librarians! And Salute! to you who will enlighten many about us! Thanks!

MessageGreat work! Librarians are one of the least understood and hardest working groups of professionals and paraprofessionals in the world. I am glad to contribute to a film which will give the public a true view of our calling.
