MessageWoo Hoo! You did it Ann! I am very proud to have been able to help in the little way I could in promoting your project and your film. When I saw your presentation at the Michigan Rural Libraries Conference at Mackinac Island in May of 2003 I knew you would be perfect for our Upper Peninsula library conference in Houghton Michigan later that year. You were so sweet to come all the way up to the "U.P." to give your presentation to our little conference. And now your vision is a reality. And not only that, but it is a fantastic film too! Way to go!

MessageLove the idea!!! Don't forget about the school library media centers. I'm a teacher librarian and have many of the responsibilities of cataloging, helping patrons, and teaching 4 or 5 classes a day. Thanks!

MessageThis is a "don't forget about" message. The librarian in Hitchcock's Shadow of a Doubt let's Charley in after hours - complains about it but does let her in to check the papers. Later in the film in a reference to bookworm sister Ann it is said that when she grows up she wants to marry a librarian so there will be lots of books around.
The library - my favourite place on earth.

MessageAnd many stories from librarians in special libraries. Where I've been . Hey, a Star Trek Klingon strolled into my library ..an engineering library on fire protection. And many stories...firefighters strolling into the library wanting info. Or under pressure to serve, research....for an investigation where people have died. Right now working in law libraries and could recount stories of lawyers and judges frantic.. person is nearly running into the courtroom with info. Even latest stuff not on computer.

smilie I sincerely hope the film will showcase some of our dynamic leaders, more off-the wall. And the film be bold, not earnest and didactic to educate the world about librarians & libraries. Best of luck! smilie

MessageI know that other people have made this suggestion, but I want to vote for putting in how politically active librarians are as a group. Most people I know, once they find out about the strong stance librarians take on the issues of the Patriot Act and the First Amendment, are quite impressed.

MessageYes - lets cut through the stereotypical crap of librarians walking around in frumpy clothes, with horn-rimmed glasses and hair done up in a bun. (I personally havent worn a bun or a frumpy skirt in years...) I run a university campus library and media centre during the day and play \'bawling Memphis guitar\' smilie in a blues\'n soul band in local pubs in the evening. I like music, Cuban cigars and most kinds of alcohol in unreasonable amounts - bring on the Hollywood Librarians and lets boogie!

smilie - from \'Memphis Soul Stew\', by King Curtis
