MessageSeconded from the RAF to BOAC along with five other pilots from Kenya my Dad flew out one of the first six Dragon Rapides to Nairobi. I was born the same year scheduled services started. He flew these, Doves, Lodestars and DC3's before leaving to Sabena in the Congo. I did my interview, and a short flight in a DC3 with Capt Eddie Parker in early1974, but due to a decision to hire only indigenous citizens, entry was delayed a year. I flew the same DC3's as dad, checked out by Eddie who had flown with Dad as a radio operator. Saw the second retirement of the DC3's and had just been posted to the VC10 fleet and doing training when the Airline ceased operations. Best flying club in the world.

MessageThis is a great effort to connect old buddies. Few would disregard the great memories of Nairobi's Night Club life of Halians, Club 1900, Topaz Grill, Sahara, etc. or Mombasa's Sunshine or Mermaid! After all what would teenagers spend their money on in the early to mid 1970's.

MessageMy father, Capt. W.M. (Andy) Anderson joined EAA immediately after WWII in 1946 and flew Rapides. He left EAA in 1951 to join Noon & Pearce Flying Charters and then joined Hunting Clan in the UK and afterwards Sudan Airways.
He rejoined EAA in 1960, flying Daks & the new F27s. He retired from EAA in 1964 after a stroke.
I have a soft spot for EAA as my very first flight was with my Dad in an EAA Rapide from Wilson Airport.

Messagesmilie All my loveliest memories that I now recollect were when I was getting ready to either fly to Nairobi back to the Prince of Wales school that I attended or getting ready to fly back home to Kampala with the fabulous East African Airlines where my Dad was always waiting for me at the airport.
My nicest air hostess was Sheila Kritikos....wonder where she is now....

MessageJoined EAA after AST Perth to fly the great Dak in Jan 1975. Loved and enjoyed every bit of the short period that I worked there. It was full of fun too.
It was a great and bright idea to establish this site it brings back those sweet memories of the 70's
Hope to be connected to our old buddies. Looking forward to the re-union day
