| Message | Re: The Definition of Sustainability I wonder if you actually give a definition? In all I have read, I have yet to see a simple definition in your writings for the word itself. Maybe I must read further? If so, why? People struggle to define sustainability, especially in their organizations. Others just buy into William MacDonough's Hanover Principle: Balancing "Ecology, Equity, & Economy" Others feel that is too vague, too open, so they adopt the UN definition: "balancing environmental enhancement, social responsibility, and economic development". This is a lot harder! I appreciate your description of a theory and a movement and even a longing, but why not state your definition of the word itself up front. You may start a trend, so we can build a common vocabulary and work together more efficiently! Soon, ~RuthAnn |
