MessageI am delighted to find your site and even more delighted to see two buildings built or designed by my ancestors, G.G. grand father, Abraham Hargrave, Hoddersfield House and his son John appears to have built Fota Tower in Cork.

I would love some of the pictures, but guess they may be too expensive for me?

I love your quirky, empathy of these buildings and think your photographs have outstanding artistic merit.

Thank you so much, for making my day!!

Best wishes, Lesley hargrave

MessageHi!

Stumbled across the site yesterday after googling Menlo Castle (Galway)...and man am I glad I did! Quite a small world of course to then stumble across your exhibition in the NUIG library today.

Exploring the rest of the site will keep me busy for the next few days at least. Thanks for sharing.

Conor

MessageYour magnificent book arrived three hours ago and I cannot praise enough. My grandmother was a cook for these families and went with them to their English/scottish houses also. She lived to be 88, so I viseted lots of the viable houses in the 50s. Specifically we knew the Carews of Ballinamona, house gone now, sold for many posh 'bungalows'. I have photos of myself (Communion) on the steps, at the artificial lake etc. Oddly enough, the man my mother married (she was an only daughter) was an avid republican and had been in the IRA! As were his brothers....interned etc. So I was raised on perfidious albion and taken as a child to see these houses...mainly in Wexford...memories fading! I was always aware of our amazing heritage therefore and until I got the book from Amazon this morning I had told my son in Dublin that I might go and do photos myself to satisfy a private emotion. I studied Hist, Eng in UCC (Hons when that meant something) but as Dad a Gaelic fanatic I attached to it, married LIam O Muirthile and went teaching (Hist Irish) We have split up since.
Gosh, but this is a delight for me today and I have to go back to thiose photos again.
This is Waterford, in case it isn't obvious....and I'd be thrilled to bits to find out how I could be involved to assist the project.
Please please don't hesitate to contact me at above email ...there might be trips to these places maybe and I could watch? I am well used to brambles, nettles and 'wooly jumpers' Emer

MessageThis is far more grand than crawling through old farm houses where I live. At least you don't have to deal with rattlesnakes!

You have done a real good job with this website. The pictures are wonderful and the histories you add make it much more interesting.

I've passed this site on to several other friends. They all feel the same way about it as I do. Maybe we'll plan a trip to Ireland and see some of these places for ourselves. Thank You!!

In choosing location, I didn't see the option for Texas. USA will have to do. hmmf
