MessageWith reference made to Lord Palmerston and Sligo estate, the emigrants arrived in Saint John , New Brunswick (not St. John, Quebec there is no such place)
I have read documents in the New Brunswick museum in Saint John describing state of arriving passengers and alarm of local authorities in how to deal with them. In fact, I seem to remember reading a copy of the letter or of reference to send such a letter to Lord Palmerston.

MessageJust love Abandoned Ireland. My favourite is Arch Hall Meath. Did you know that Miss Magan who inherited Grangemore Westmeath was inspiration for Charles Dickens "Great Expecations".

MessageDear Mr Blake,

I think the work you have done on documenting abandoned houses is very interesting and if not for you I wouldn't have found my ancestors home Ballingarde House.

I am currently researching my family tree and I am looking to go over to Ireland in the next year to find some answers to very large questions. I believe from research and from my grandfather Robert Croker, that Captain Edward Croker whom famous bankrupted family was my gt gt grandfather. But at the moment apparently documents pertaining to him don't exist. Grandpop said everything had been "wiped clean" and I didn't believe him until now!

What I wanted to ask you was, how do you find said house? Can you give me directions or a road name, address? As my family and I wish to visit what is left of this once beautiful house.

If you could please give any info on how to get to the is house and maybe even if by some chance you knew any more of the Croker family history from the great house I'd be most grateful indeed!

Many Thanks
Yours Sincerely

Sharon Croker

MessageAmazing and inspiring website. All places are magical. I went today to see hell-fire - makes impression, pity, that most of places are well protected and entrance is not possible. I will be still hunting for abandoned places, listed on your page. Work well done
