MessageThere is a wonderful book titled, "History of Lumpkin County, The First 100 years 1832 to 1932." It was written by a professor of North Georgia College, Andrew W. Cain. I don't know if it is still in print, but I've seen it referenced on Amazon's book site. My daddy, Oscar F. Wigley, gave the book to me back in the 1980's. There is so much information in the book regarding the Gold Rush, the formation of the U.S. Mint in Dahlonega, the Trail of Tears and so much more. Many family names are indexed as are marriages from 1832 to 1932. I'd recommend it to anyone who is researching their family's history. It's well written and even though it's a text-book sort of book, it's hard to put it down once one begins to read.

MessageWhat a wonderful collection of photos and such a illuminating historic story. A very sad event that brings tears to my eyes when I think about the magnitude of the sacrifices and the grief that are a part of this American story.

Thanks for all the hard work.

I and my family are a part of this great historic time, since Joabert is believed to be my ggggrandfather too.

MessageI am now the last living member of my immediate family. I am having to go through two houses that were left to me, i am finding alot of things that i don't have answers to. As to who things belonged to and who are kin folk. I have found several interesting antiques along with some old letters pertaining to old mines.
