| Message | When I first came out when I was 16, my parents were pretty pissed too - so I know how it feels man. They didn't "make me want" (or however that shit at your house went down) - or force me - to go to a straight camp or anything, so I can only imagine the horror and damage you are experiencing but I will keep you in my thoughts. Anyways, hang in there. You're doing nothing wrong by loving another guy. I've been with mine for five years now, since my first year, first semester at college and there isn't anything I wouldn't do for him. If my loving him wholly and completely is not the christian way, then screw that...he is more important than anything else. On a side note, if you want to stay there, then there's nothing anyone can do to make you change your mind. But...if you don't want to be there (even IF you signed a contract), they have no right holding you. That IS false imprisonment and that contract was likely made under duress, fraud, or both - rendering it unenforceable! |

| Message | I am a hetero Christian single mother who will move heaven and earth for her kids and it is EXTREMELY difficult for me to understand Bryce’s family. How does his family believe he would “choose” to be gay? Who chooses a life of discrimination and often times violence? Who chooses to have their basic civil rights denied? Our job as parents is to not only teach our children to be kind, caring, responsible adults but we are also called to love our children. UNCONDITIONALLY. I have faith that Bryce will make it out of this, but in doing so he will have to go on without his family. And those are the very people who should be supporting him, holding his hand. The real heartbreak is that this torture is being done in the name of Christianity. I am educated quite well in the Bible and refuse to “bible bash” but I find it amusing that scripture which has been compiled and contorted by man is used as the undeniable word of God. One irrefutable point of faith is God is love, not hate, prejudice, cruelty. What Bryce is being coerced into has nothing to do with God and everything to do with religion. I suppose my point is this: Bryce, when you read this, even though your family has failed you please know there are people who love you for you, gay or straight. There are people who will support you, will be excited when you fall in love, will be sad when some guy breaks your heart, and will be joyful when you marry the man of your dreams. Hold on Bryce! |
