Read all the interviews before you describe the relationship as "one live meeting and a bunch of phone sex." This is not a case of a boyfriend or lover or one-night stand disappearing one day after being cold for a while and just not wanting anything to do with the relationship anymore. This is a case where the family basically admits Bryce is in one of these camps, and Travis has every reason to believe Bryce does not really want to be there based on their last conversation.
Maybe if Bryce knew that Travis was fighting this hard to find him and get him out of there, he would have a renewed strength that would allow him to come out of there. Maybe not. The point is, until he hears from Bryce one way or the other, Travis just doesn't know. If Bryce has chosen (or been forced) down a different path by the time he emerges and he no longer wishes to be with Travis, that will probably be very hard for Travis. But, what kind of boyfriend would Travis be if he gave up after being asked to stay strong for Bryce and that Bryce loves him? Most people would probably just head back to the bar for their next one-nighter without any regard for the horror Bryce may be going through right now, which seems like what you are suggesting here. Don't knock what Travis has done; it is something special regardless of the outcome. |
