| Message | This is so awful. My heart goes out to you,Bryce. I can relate. I also knew what it was to be economically bullied out of my education and career. I too was a pre-med student and I had been Valedictorian of my HS class. I had a promising career as a physician - which I had dreamed of since the 8th grade. I dreamed of being a cardiovascular surgeon. Unfortunately, when i came out to my parents my senior year of college and had a committment ceremony with my partner - my parents threatened me. I was to told to break up and if i didnt they said they would not pay for my medical school (these were during the days when parents could AFFORD medical school - 1978). I resisted and sure enough they cut off ALL financial assistance and disowned me for a year and a half! (And i was an only child so this was emotionally difficult). Thank goodness i had my partner who had a good full time hospital job and i was able to survive. But i had to work 2 jobs as a waitress & a nurses aid to put myself thru NURSING school...the biggest mistake and regret of my life. As a result i've had no respect and made no money, & it's intellectually unstimulating for someone of my vast potential. The biggest let down is not being respected for my intelligence - but being treated as "just a nurse." I am bitter about it if i let myself dwell on it...and always will be. So PLEASE get yourself out of there! Be with your partner and find a way through scholarships or loans to put yourself thru medical school! |

Neither of them, nor anyone else in the world, should have to go through something like this, it is just downright inhuman. | Message | This is an awful situation. My blood runs cold to think of "conversion therapy" - I've been told that some organizations use electroshock therapy, which I hope isn't true! If so, these people are no better than Inquisitors who tortured religious dissidents to make them "recant" - but killed them anyway. I'm straight, but your fight is my fight. |

| Message | I am extremely offended by the actions of his parents. And if I were him, I'd have my mom charged under computer crime statutes. I had something similar happen to me. I was outed to my father by one of his friends who saw me and my SO going into a gay club. Fortunately I was an adult, financially independent, and didn't need anything from my father. |

| Message | My Dearest Bryce, Last night I ended up staying up until sunrise, something I have not done since our many late night conversations. It reminded me of the first time we talked on Skype. I remember sitting here at my desk and never wanting that moment to end. It was like time stood still, until we looked at a clock and determined that it was now 7:30am and I had to be to class at 8:00.
