BreedBeagle
StateKS
Type of CancerThyroid
MessageSally has been my constant companion for the past 11 and a half years. She is my best friend disguised in a beagle suit. She has gotten me through some of the roughest patches in my life, and has now been diagnosed with bilateral thyroid cancer. A week ago Wednesday morning she cried out when climbing out of her bed. She sleeps next to mine. We took her to our local vet who did a needle aspiration biopsy and sent it to K-State. Thursday we got the positive cancer diagnosis and Wednesday we took her to see the head of the oncology department of KSU. We are prepping her for a round of Palladia. Gabapentin and Tramadol for pain (she has alot of pain from the tumor) and Pepcid to guard her stomach from the cancer drugs. We are optimistic, no other signs of cancer except a widening in her mediastinum that may be. No lung, liver or any other organs. Her heart and general health are good. She's eating well. Please hold us in your hearts and your prayers.

BreedMaltese
StatePA
Type of CancerHemangiosarcoma
MessageSprinkles went in for a routine checkup after having a uti. It was simply by fluke that the tumor was seen in an ultrasound. It was tested as being maligniant. What a shock....she shows no signs other than being tired(She will be 14 on April 25th). She is like our third child, having two daughters ages 21 & 24. We are very torn up about it. What do we do,or do we do nothing and let nature takes its course? She IS and has always been a truly loving and faithful companion for us all. She is the one who has taught each and everyone of us what uncondiional love is all about. How do we prepare ourselves and her for saying goodbye? (God also took ny mother this year after only 6 wks with pancreatic cancer) Just trying to cope:(

BreedGolden Retriever
StatePennsylvania
Type of CancerLymphoma
MessageCaramel was diagnosed about a month ago. She is 11 and is the love of my life. At 45, I have had many dogs, but none like this one. Caramel is my first Golden and the dog my kids grew up with. She has been a remarkable second mother to my children and a never ending source of love and support for me.
She has been on steroid treatments since the diagnosis and can never get enough to eat or drink. I do not know what to expect but am so scared. The thought of losing her has been a horrible thing to wrap my brain around. She has recently begun relentless panting which goes on all day and night. No matter how much I read about Lymphoma, I still cannot find answers to my specific questions. I feel very alone with all the uncertainty. My heart will never be the same when this cancer claims my Caramel.
