| Message | Hello mr Aronofsky! It's truly a pleasure to be able to send a message to You. Although I'm 19,for 2 years now I have been obsessed,in a good way, with your movie "The Fountain".Namely because it has so many layers to it,it is truly thought-provoking for me. I have watched it many times and yet I am so hungry to know more about what you wanted to make this movie about. What was your original idea for the characters in the movie etc? I listened to your commentary and you mentioned that there are very few metaphors when it comes to the characters. And one of MANY questions that I think about literally every day for the last 2 years is if there was one specific person and the other 2 were just parts of his mind/the book. I mean sure the conquistador is a book character, but yet is it somehow a past life?!But more importantly is the future Tom just the coping process of present day Tommys mental/emotional struggles? Is the future Tom just in his mind or is he the same person as the present Tommy(who has survived for 500years?)(that's what I came to conclude for myself). But what I would TRULY LOVE to know and in a way need to know because sometimes I end up thinking about it all night and not getting any sleep. What was your idea when making the film? Was the future Tom the same man really existing in the future or was he a product of the present day Tommys coping?I know well that you are a busy man but if you could send me a reply sometime it would definitely not go unappreciated. |
