| Message | Dear Mr Aronofsky, I went to see you talk at the Edinburgh International Film Festival last night (Monday 19th June '09). Didn't get to ask you a question unfortunately and didn't want to bother you at the end (you were swarmed with fans!), but wanted to let you know that The Fountain is one of my favourite films and its cult of followers continues to grow! I lend my dvd copy to any pals who I think will like it - and most of them do! I was a bit disappointed that your interviewer didn't ask you more about The Fountain and The Wrestler. I had hoped to hear a bit more about your experience of working with the legend that is Mickey Rourke. I was fortunate enough to meet Sir Alan Parker a few years ago and, being an Angel Heart fan, asked him what it was like directing MR. He gave a little chuckle and said "A f**king nightmare." Do you have any plans to work again with Mr Rourke? By the by, I am a writer and just wanted to let you know that your work is truly inspirational. Long may it continue. AJ |

| Message | The Fountain is my absolute number one adored film of my life. I have watched it endless times. The power and courage it created in me is overwhelming. Thank you for such and experience. My favorite line of the film (which may not be a line from it at all) is at the very end while Tommy is kneeled next to her grave and says "please". Now I understand the subtitles say "Bye, Iz" but all I can make out is "please" and to me it makes so much sense that he does so. I really can't express my adoration for this beautiful work of art. | Message | I must say, I have seen The Fountain, about 4 to 5 times. Each time I have found something new to like about the film. There was fantastic direction of the actors. Speaking of actors, Hugh Jackman's performance was outstanding, his body language was a real, I felt I could take something away from his performance. The score for the film achieved something rare in film making today... it was transcendent... and indeed it was integral to a greater understanding of the film itself. A fantastic piece of modern science fiction. I hope to see much, much more in this same vein. |
