MessageI was born in Newcastle on Tyne the same city as Hank Marvin I saw them play on gigs before they were famous in newcastle in the fifties I have been a fan for over 50 years, the one thing missing out of my collection are the signatures of Hank Bruce and Brian, could I send one of my precious records for them to sign?? I first saw Hank in The Crows Nest pub in the Haymarket, Hank will remember that.
Thank You
Thomas

MessageHi,
Hank Marvin lives in Perth Australia and has his own studio in North Perth. As an audio visual producer of documentary programs, I have had the opportunity on several occasions to use this facility to make voice over and music mixing recordings. Sadly Hank was never working there when these events have occurred. The studio from the outside looks like an old warehouse but on the inside a different story. The main entry corridor was lined with all his gold discs hanging on the walls.
Beyond this Hank was a voluntary musician and played at the Sunami Concert in our Government House Gardens in Perth a couple of years ago. The concert was free and with non of the restrictions on photography and video recording that normally applies, I had the good fortune to make a video recording from front of stage which turned out excellent.
I would be happy to allow you access to this recording which is about 15 minutes long. My only anxiety is that Hank might object without viewing it first. If you have his contact details I am attending the 50th Anniversary Concert in Perth on 6th February and would be delighted to meet with him there (backstage) and give him a copy on DVD to preview and get his permission.
Let me know what you think?
Cheers Harry.

MessageHello!
I would like to thank you for putting up such a great site!! I'm a big, big fan of the Shadows. I was lucky enough to see Hank with his band in 2000 and the Shadows themselves in 2005. They are, without any question, the top instrumental band ever but I sure like the vocals just as much!! They were and still are the main reason I picked up a guitar. I'll never be as good but it is great to be able to play those tunes that will stay forever!!
Thank you again!!!!
Best wishes from Holland,
Bart Spaan

MessageHi.

My name is Alfredo and I'm writting you from Spain.

I'm trying to contact The Shadows to ask them for the possibility of a concert here in Spain.
Unfortunately I haven't been able to find Hank Marvin's mail on the internet and the official Shadows web-site is "broken" or under construction.

Do you know what's their mail or contact address?

Thank you very much in advance.

MessageI grew up listening to the Shadows ,my father is the closest thing you would ever hear to the great man himself.his touch and tone are amazingly the same, hence my guitar sound is similar too, with a touch of Mark Knopfler,as he is my hero.
Saw my first Shads show in I think 1977 at the apollo in Manchester with Hank playing his black strat, what a sound he got out of that live, with that humbucker. In total seen the Shads at least 25 times over the years ,including Knebworth in 1990,leaning on the stage.
Hank is a true guitar hero, and should go down in the record books as the greatest strat player ever, bar none.never mind Clapton,Hendrix,Stevie ray,or any other greats.Hank is the Greatest.
thanks for reading.Shaun in California smilie

MessageI took my (then) 14 year old sister to see Cliff and the Shadows at the Palace Theatre in (then) Salisbury, Rhodesia, 46 years ago, and last night for the first time since, the two of us saw them live at Wembley Arena in London. What a fantastic show, Hank is the same lovely person, same lovely smile, good looking, nice physique, and FABULOUS MUSIC. It really was a thrill for us to see you all again. Thank you and God bless.
