I would hope that "artistic licence" might stretch the imagination to encompass the idea of a fiesty elder (50s or 60s) who can't be restrained when his tribe is under threat and is thus naked save for his foot bindings and ready to take on all comers! In any case, I love your work and I am confident that whatever you draw will stir my imagination. |

| Message | Oops, seems I overlooked a posting from a certain Al from October 17th of last year! Dear Al, Am, of course, always happy to hear how much my artwork appeals to oldermen admirers. The medium I use is (usually) pencil(s) and paper, before scanning the material and adding color, texturing, lighting, shading, etc. with the aid of picture-processing software (PhotoImpact 11). | Message | Dear John (alias Blokey-Bloke), I greatly appreciated your comments on my latest posting. You are definitely right that the heady smells of sweat, grease and diesel can be a huge turn-on to many gay men (as long as the guy reeking of car repair shop smells happens to be our type). An interesting suggestion, drawing up a semi-nude 50+ Celtic warrior (although I doubt whether men in early medieval times who were lucky enough to reach that age were sent off to war). They were probably expected to stay home and protect the rest of the family, children and grand-children. Need to do some research on the subject to make a plausible character. Thanks again for the tip!As far as the Middle Ages is concerned, I have gathered ample material on the subject to make a drawing (based entirely on genuine, homoerotic encounters that took place in medieval times). It will feature two late-eleventh-century Knights of the Round Table, Sir Gawain (Gawein) and Sir Ywain (Iwein) based on original early-13th-c. texts from Hermann von Aue describing in detail their hot kisses and embraces, and the reactions of those bearing witness to them. It's incredibly romantic, and what's more, all of it is true! Have been doing research this past year on medieval homosexuality, art, handwriting, and chivalric armor to give the drawing an even more realistic touch. I enjoy combining my desires with facts from gay history, and featuring them in my artwork. Yours, Hutch |

| Message | Thank you for Heinz the engineer. Comrade Köhler's drawing evokes a sense of the aroma that surrounded rail men that I have met. It was a heady mix of grease and coal or diesel that I always found pleasant and relaxing. Quite erotic in some men, to be truthful. Your description also conveyed a sense of the era that I found entertaining. Good man Hutch! Would you consider maybe drawing a senior celtic warrior from way back before the Industrial Revolution? Although these fighting men had a short life expectancy, I would love to see your conception of a fifty or sixty year old celtic warrior stripped for battle as was the custom and pumped ready for the frey! Indeed, in olden days, I believe other cultures had battalions whose soldiers were proud to display all in battle, believing that armour would both slow them and numb their responses to their adversaries. I'd love to hear your opinion on this anyway. Happy New Year to you and regular readers of your Blog. J |
