| Message | My father,Denny Phillips,was aboard the Randolph from 1960-63. He served in the V-2 division. He is still around,not in great health,but tells many great stories of his Navy days aboard the Randolph. I know most by heart. He still has his yearbook and a little cruise leaflet. He really loved the Navy. If any of you guys that he served with read this..give me an email. He has told me about John Glenn,the ship collision at sea,the Cuban Missle Crisis,Gus Grissom and so much history in such a short time. I am very proud of my father and all the men who have served on the Randolph. I dont think the Randolph gets the attention that it deserves. I guess because my Dad served on her,but she will always be my favorite Carrier. Take care guys. |

| Message | My father was on the Randolph from 1954-1957. He always talks about his navy days and all the places that he went. He does not know that I am writing this but it would be great if he could get in contact with somebody from his past. He is retired now and 71 years of age. He always has funny stories and stories about all the weight he lost working in the boiler room in about 115 degrees. He is still a small man. He always laughs that he has only gained 10 pounds since he graduated high school in 1954. |

| Message | I was aboard the Randolph from 1959 to 1963. I also was in OI division with Chief Les. It was most likely some of the best years of my life. Yes I remember the wreck , John Glenn , liberties in the Caribbean,shake down cruises to Gitmo, and comming back from the Med when we hit such heavy seas that waves were comming over the flight deck. They were great times. |

| Message | I was in Naples Italy when the war ended.In December of 1945 I boarded the Randolph to return to the states for discharge from the Army. I got to spend Christmas( for the first time since Dec.1942) with my wife and family. I was in North Africa and then Italy spending almost 3 years overseas. It was wonderful to be heading bck to the good old U.S.A. and also to be there by Christmas. If my memory serves me correctly(I am now 83 years old) it just took us 5 days for the voyage home. I remember being told during the voyage home about the damage that had happened to the Randolph while in the Pacific. Hard to believe now that the damage could have been repaired in 19 days(as I read on one web site) and put back in service. One thing I remember about the trip home is that there were so many service men on the ship that they could only feed us 2 meals a day and there was nearly always a chow line waiting. Hard to believe that the hanger deck etc could have held so many men. I seem to recall that there were some 6500 or so men returning home on the ship. I read where the Randolph made two trips to the Mediterranean to bring troops home. Don't know if I was on the first trip or second. Thank Randolph for a nice trip home. R.E.(Bob) Blenden |

I reported as RDSN and departed as RD2 what great memories I have of those years and what a great crew we were. Indeed Rand-Do Could Do.
