| Message | Sorry Goon, you may want to check your scouts eggnog flasks cause they're definitely spikin it... It's true that Byfuglien first got his shot up front partially because of injuries, it was mainly cause he got a hat trick plus an assist in one game late November, he followed with another strong offensive game so they tried him on the PP up front. From there, since early December he has been playing forward in all except one game. He has now played on all three lines up front (and is their only power forward, they want protection for Kane, Toews, Havlat and Sharp cause they felt other teams were freely hitting them too much). Also in this time Chicago has scratched 3 of their regular healthy forwards and played Byfuglien ahead of them. Samsonov and Perrault were both healthy scratches last night. In last nights game he was started as a forward, and he played the first two periods up front. But Andrei Zyuzin got injured so Byfuglien dropped back and paired up with Barker for the third period and overtime. Believe me, I know all things Blackhawk related... ![]() |

| Message | My understanding is that the Blackhawks have been suffering with a few injuries and Byfuglien was filling in a bit. Now that Sharp is back and others are coming together, I noticed that Byfuglien was back on D last night. I think its pretty clear he is a defenceman, and filling in up front when needed. |

| Message | I agree with GM Epp, but I think Byfuglien's situation is different because he had been playing Forward for two weeks before the draft. All the other D men were drafted as D men, and then they've had a few games here and there up front, I think those are a bonus, but Byfuglien playing forward when he was drafted is different. Also NHL.com takes a long time to update some of their stats and player info. |

| Message | Re: defense vs. forward I think if someone is listed as a defenseman at the start of the season with the NHL, they collect points as a defenseman all year for whomever drafted them, even if they shift postions. If they are listed as a forward the following season, then the GM will have to list them as such. As many GM's have stated, it will be very difficult to monitor what position a player is collecting points in...also, these situations are so rare, I don't think we need to police them -- I'm happy with a bonus for the GM that lucks out and picks a defenseman who gets shifted to foward and triples his point production. Same rule applies for forwards shifted to D (though the Marty McSorely's are rare indeed). Just my input... |

| Message | I think its vertually impossible to police this dman situation. For example, Mark Striet plays 55 minutes in a game versus Florida on the last game of the season, then Montreal needing a goal puts him out for a shift on forward, he gets an assist. The NHL stats will indicate that he was a defenceman in that game, but we will never know he actually scored the point playing forward. The only way to know excactly how points are scored is by watching all players in evry game, which is impossible. If a guy is thought of as a defenceman its so hard to mandate which points are scored from where. |
