| Message | How do you come to the conclusion that "no one was willing to give up a young superstar for Lidstrom", when you dont even make a counter offer to my offer before completing a deal with Rob? I made an offer including 2 players under the age of 27 for Lidstrom, and no counter offer was received in return. If you dont even try to get more out of other GM's obviously it will never happen. Congrats Rob. |

| Message | Devries is about to burst through -- I'm anticipating upwards of 10 points from him this year! Yes, Alfie is a great scorer...I have less faith in his longevity than I do in Lidstrom's but he's great nonetheless. The fact remains, however, that value is dictated by what people will give up for him. This season will be a write-off for me regardless and since Alfie and Lidstrom will be worth less a year from now than they are now, there was no point hanging on to them. I felt they were worth more than the offers I was getting in exchange but what I THINK they are worth doesn't matter...the only thing that matters is what other GM's feel they are worth. Notice I manage to hold on to Devries in this deal though!!! And I was referring to Bill Whitney -- he's the rink rat at Duke Stadium...does a hell of a job flooding the ice there and I was hoping he would come to Eppsterville. |

| Message | 1.) Greg DeVries = superstar 2.) Is Alfredsson just a throw in in this deal? 9th overall in league scoring last year, and you don't even mention his name. Under contract for 4 years. 3.) I think you mean Ryan Whitney, because even Wade Redden is better than Ray Whitney. Anyways, I love seeing deals of any kind, glad to see the activity, and if it works for you then who cares what everyone else thinks? i.e. Peter Forsberg. |

| Message | GM EPP GOES ON DEFENSIVE (CP)- Eppsters GM Chris Epp went on the defensive today, responding to critics who feel he got hosed in the recent Eppsters/Blazers blockbuster that saw Nik Lidstrom and Daniel Alfreddson join the Blazers. "Lidstrom isn't water and he isn't oxygen," said Epp, "His value is purely dictated by the market..and the market determined he wasn't worth a young superstar." Epp had reportedly been strongly pursuing both Ray Whitney and Kyle Turris from Dan's Dukes during previous negotations but no agreement could be reached. "Basically, nobody was willing to part with what I wanted which was a young player with superstar potential..surely Lidstrom is worth that - he wil be the best d-man in the league for at least one more season. But, when I didn't happen, i had to shift priorities." said Epp. Epp says Redden will serve as a bridge into the next stage of his franchise, rather than a cornerstone. "He's got 5 good offensive years left in him...by the time he's out of gas, the team around him should be much stronger." Epp says pursuing a first round or mid-season pick became a priority when he realized no one would deal him a young star. "At least there's potential for a diamond in the rough with the mid-season " said Epp "Think Mike Richards..think Greg DeVries -- both are superstars picked up mid-season." Epp also reminded fellow GM's that they all had plenty of chances at Lidstrom before the Blazers deal finally went down. |

| Message | I'd like to thank the Eppsters for their professionalism in the Lidstrom negotiations. We couldn't come to an agreement, and the deal that just went down has a lot of GM's raising a collective eyebrow. It will be interesting to follow Redden's career as a 31 year old leading the youth movement in Eppsterland. The deal will have a ripple effect on other trade talks throughout the league as the Blazers have to be viewed as the team to beat with this big addition. |

| Message | I am officially entertaining offers for the 1st overall prospect pick. If anyone's interested send me an offer but do keep in mind it is Stamkos we're talking about here... Goon's most likely need not apply When is the draft? |
