MessageCouldn't agree more... you guys let Duke run you over... but I'm here to change that, I have one goal... bring down the dukes...

well me and the KHL that is :D C'mon Kovy do the right thing!... and the right thing is money!

I've got a brilliant Idea... for the next 3 years, we give 1st place money to whoever finishes 2nd... this will create a cat and mouse style race for 2nd and the bragging rights of the FHL trophy!!!.. I'm a genius!

MessageOver the years our league has developed different dynamics.

Here's the history in a nutshell.

early years - even playing field, tonnes of lateral moves were made, interest remained strong among majority of teams.

mid-years - re-builders began, trading and drafting for youth because the Blazers had a dynasty. Early season lack of interest began.
Extremely few lateral trades were made. The Blazers (and a couple of contenders) would make moves that would move their youth for older vet.s who were producing now. That led to the Blazers demise.

late-years- the Dukes created a monster that is both young and a dynasty. The do not have to trade for older players to keep a hold on the championship. This has led us to our current dilemma.

MessageI believe there were tonnes of ideas thrown out this spring, but they all were spurred on by 2 major, but related problems (in my opinion).

Problem # 1 - Our league now has one super power team, that is very young. There are currently 2-4 other teams that consider themselves outside contenders. Once the end of Nov./early Dec. comes around those teams realize they don't have a chance. Which leads to a complete lack of trades. No one has anyone else to trade with, because they're all doing the same thing, looking for youth.

Which leads to problem # 2 - teams stop making moves (including roster call ups, either intentionally to fall back in the standings for higher picks, or unintentionally because of the lack of interest due to the league being won in Nov.

MessageSweet discussions...

So, everyone who's still in the pool, tell me if you're going for the win this year or rebuilding. Either say it on here or email me. I guarantee offers for every GM.

I don't really care much either way on the rule changes, I thought there were a lot more discussed in the spring though.

In my opinion if we want to move to a quicker paced league with more parity we'd need to restructure the pool to keeping X players per year and the rest go into the draft which we make deeper. I'm not saying I want to do that myself, I'm just saying I think it's in the best interest of the less interested GM's.

Messagetwo ideas yet to be completely hashed out:

the changing monies owed based on finish

and/or

change the way the draft order is determined

we definitely need clarification on disputing other people's roster moves (or lack thereof)

MessageWow... If Kovy and Nabokov both leave for Russia it might actually be the break we need to get this pool back on a level playing field...

Are there any official rule change discussions going to happen this summer? Cause they should probably happen sooner (now) rather than later ...
