| Message | As per the issue over tanking - I believe Dan's proposal would be quite effective and relatively painless. I would be in favor of such a rule, there by helping to keep everyone honest (even if the don't mean to neglect their team). Money rule - I would be in favor of increasing the fee by $10 and dividing that proportionately to 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Also agree with C-Dogg - money up front. But how do you do it with guys out of the province? |

| Message | I still maintain that I don't think that there is a problem with motivation in this league. If I look at all 8 GM's there are definitely varying levels of interest (or time spent on pool) at varying times during the year but that isn't something (IMHO) that can really change either. We all have lives and sometimes more important things get in the way. Or let me word it this way... I think now that the Bruins have new ownership we don't have any problems in that regards. In this pool (for last season) I would probably be accused as having the least amount of 'interest' (asides from the Bruins) and if that is the case then I think we have a healthy league because I am very interested right now. In regards to missing month end moves again I don't think we need to pull the trigger on any big changes here (maybe small changes). I was obviously the cause of this one again last year but of the vacation and Bieksa injury and the drama that followed. I think the action we took was good: a league vote and proper substitution made. I do think we need to make of few of these discussion points from this year into real rules as well. And we need to say that the entry fee is payable up front |

| Message | Should we try and resolve any of the issues that were talked about last year? The main problem seems to be motivation or lack thereof. Its really not THAT big of an issue but there are some potential things that we could do to help the process along. 1. Money/payouts. The options that were discussed were: - Increased stakes across the board - Payouts for more than 1st place - Lower placed teams paying more than higher placed teams. - any others? 2. Month end roster deadlines being missed/ "tanking". I don't remember where this conversation ended up. Duke proposed the idea about determining draft order based on the highest scoring members of your team for the month. Were there any other suggestions for this issue? It was apparent during the last discussions that most people prefer different things so maybe we should come up with all the perceived problems and their possible solutions and then we can put things to a vote. |

| Message | Fellow GM's, I recently returned from a two-week scouting trip in rural Manitoba, which is why I wasn't very accessible. Tommorow, I head to southern BC for another week with my staff as we check out more prospects. I can be reached via blackberry at [email protected] but reception ain't great where I'm going. Will be listening to offers upon my return. Goon, I can save you a bit of trouble - if you think of any offer you're going to make me, just assume I'll say no. That way, you don't have to wait for me to return for the official rejection. |

| Message | The Phillies organization is sad to part ways with James Van Riemsdyk so early in his promising career. In a restructuring deal: The Phillies send JVR to The Terror for the 4th overall PP. We look forward to making the selection. |

| Message | Totally agree with the C doggy on this one - the hockey news one sucks. On holidays too and picked both of those mags up. Haven't checked out the forecaster one yet, but it's got to be better than the Hockey News. (but an insiders note - the mag Phil (of the Phillies) writes for is the really the best. ) ![]() |
