| Message | GM Peters and Commissioner Brown have conducted and extended conversation via phone this past weekend. 1. GM Peters has done an admirable job in conducting the expansion proposal en devours, not only in this season, but in years past. It is true that he only proceeded to create a proposal because the commissioner asked him to work on it due to the strong increase in interest for an expansion club at this year's re-draft. It takes a tonne of work to create an expansion draft proposal and to have it shot down by the GM who is also the same Commissioner who asked him to do it in the first place sucks. What makes this whole thing difficult is that the same people who are running this league, are GMs in the league. So, when GM Blazer makes a point everyone thinks "Oh here's the biased commissioner making thing work out best for him." Or when GM Peters creates a expansion proposal that seems to favor his club the optics don't look good, even though he created it trying to keep in mind everyone's requests in mind. But - we will never have a completely objective neutral party running this league because they'll always be a GM of a team. That's just the way it is. That's why its got to be democratic. 2. GM Peters and I came up with the same thing Duke suggested on the banterboard - namely that the expansion franchise be the one to make a proposal and GMs will then vote on it. We would request that the proposal would be implemented app. 1 year later. |
