MessageI grew up on 197th St in the Bronx and Thurman was my favorite Yankee not only for his stats, but also for his toughness and leadership. Once he finally gets voted in, I will be there with my #15 jersey. My office is adorned with Thurman, my home study is adorned with Thurman, and every Yankee jersey I have is #15. smilie

MessageIt's a disgrace that Munson is not in the Hall. Give me a break, Sandberg, Fisk, Sutter, Molitor, Winfield and others can't carry Thurman's jock. What a joke that these guys are in over him. Shows what idiots sportswriters really are. Forget the numbers - he was sooooo much better than any of those guys in so many ways. What about his leadership? I recently saw footage from a game late in 78 when Hall of Famer Bob Lemon, the manager, visited the mound and just stood there and listened as Munson did all of the talking to the pitchers and infielders. It was always that way. Even Hall of Famer Catfish Hunter looked up to him and hung on his every word. Munson is an all time Great - not just a Hall of Famer -

MessageI can't believe after all these years Thurman is not in the Hall. In his short carrier his numbers don't lie and after 28 years after the his death his needs to be in the Hall of Fame.....

MessageCan you believe 28 years ago today. If you're here on this site you know exactly where you were that day. If like me, you don't remember too many other days when you heard the news of the death of some one where you were. This was my sports hero then and the only one I have been able to have since then. He should absolutely be in the Hall. God bless Diane and the children that had to go on after that day I know it has been hard to have that an often reminder but the world would have been so much poorer without him.

MessageThurman should have been in the hall years ago it goes without saying. However, the day Bruce Sutter was elected, it became a SIN that Thurman Munson isn't in! This sin needs to be set right.

MessageMunson's career, although brief, was as outstanding as one could hope for. Thurman deserves his day in Cooperstown. If he is not voted in then I believe it is a crime that today's youth 20 years from now will ask the question Thurman who? Vote him in and Pete Rose also but leave Rose banned from the game.
