MessageIt is imperative that North Carolina's mimimum wage be increased by $1.00 as a first step toward improving the lives of the working poor. In 2006 it takes $6.26 to buy what $5.15 bought in 1997, the last time that the minimum wage was increased. A $1.00 increase to $6.15 will not even bring the State's minimum wage earners to an equivalent level of buying power.

It is imperative that the proposed increase be passed and that we as a State continue to address this serious issue through additional minimum wage increases and other supports to the working poor of our State.

MessageI believe that the minimum raise rate should be raised. No one that I know can live on that rate as it is. I feel that if we are going to lower our poverty rate, something has to be done to help people afford to pay their bills.

MessageI feel the minimum wage should be raised here in the US. These low wages are just not enough to support even the most frugal of people. If they are willing to work hard for it, we owe them at least enough money to survive. 5.15 is not enough to survive in today's society.
