MessageI have had a quick look at your Briggs photos. My earliest Briggs relation I can prove is my great grandfather David Dixon Briggs bc1822 Rome, Oneida,NY. I have a photo of him and many other more recent Briggs photos. Your photo Rev.Ansel Child Briggs has a very familiar look to my Briggs men. A long shot I know.
We have been unsuccessful in finding our great grandfather's roots. He was fair and a lot of our Briggs's had golden hair.
Regards, Lynette

MessageI have been trying to find my Briggs family that I believe originated in Connecticut because that is where my gggrandfather Richard Albert Briggs was born in 1816 and then lived in Johnston Rhode Island and was married to a Susan.

MessageNot sure what happened in my first 'signing' so here's my second and accurate one.

My GFather was born in Brooklyn in the 1880-90's. Frank Briggs. Married Ruth Harrington of Granville, NY. Also born in the late 1800's. They had Kenneth, Phillip, Charles, Irving, Cornelius, and Floyd.

I think my 'leg' of the family probably came from Ireland to Brooklyn but haven't yet given up on the 'Briggs' of New England. I will, when I find the extra cash, do the DNA test, would be interesting.

MessageI am researching Zephaniah Briggs b. 1835 in New York (possibly Chautauqua County), lived most of adult life in BloomingValley, Woodcock Boroughs, Crawford County, Pennsylvania. He died 2 Jun 1901 and is buried in the Woodcock Cemetary. He married Mary E Gray in 1860, then Charlotte Minerva Clark in 1867. My husbands ggrandmother was Etta Briggs, Zephaniah's daughter from his first marriage. I have found many people who think they have connections, but they have no proof of connections. There are male descendents alive, but are hesitant to do the DNA testing. It's interesting to see your DNA project.

ps: Am only interestes in the European BRIGGS ancetsry & origins.

MessageI have been trying to track my Briggs line for a long time. My gggrandfather was George W. Briggs born 1847 in Johnston,Providence RI, his father was Richard Briggs born in Connecticut and his mother was Susan, last name unknown, but I have suspicions that it could be Whipple, she was born in Rhode Island.
