MessageJust wondering whether there is interest in a tie with my branch of the BRIGGS family who migrated to Australia in the 1880's from Scotland. Records that I have show that my family generally lived in Southern Scotland or Northern England.

regards

Michael

MessageHi All Briggs'

We have quite a family. I believe that I am related to John Briggs of Portsmouth b. 1609 - 1690 of Darrington (York), England. He was the brother of Rebecca who was killed in a fire. The Briggs' and the Dixon's have crossed in history several times. I would love to get passed William of Salle tying him to Brydges, Burghes or Brugge. They must have come from someone. The Doomsday Book really messed us up. Good luck to all!

MessageFrancis E. Briggs and Anna McLaughlin, My GGrandparents have my grandfather in Brooklyn, NY in July, 23, 1897. he was Baptised on Aug. 9, 1897 at Our Lady of Lourdes, Brooklyn. Any one have anything on these folk's? I've got the B.C. and other documents to prove this but have never gotten them 'before' that year in Brooklyn. They moved, quickly I think, to Granville NY. My Grandfather married a Harrington who was part of the Moore family in the Granville area. Any info, any iterest kindly contact me? All info is great. Thanks

MessageI am a female Briggs, and my grandfather was Augustus Briggs Born in the 1800's his family was from a plantation of slaves, an affair took place and started a whole new breed of relatives whom has not wanted to be claimed. My family came from Ireland in the 1600's I was told. I was told my cousins have blue eyes and there is a very large family of the Briggs' and all of the males had a very large family. I would like to find out more I was told the other side of the Briggs family did not want to claim those who were part of the slave masters. My G-grandma was part white and married or started a relationship with one of the slaves. Her last name Rowlett, my great grandmother and the wife of Rev. William T. Briggs. This could be something of brilliance if these family's are connected and have been apart for centuries, because of ethnicity, the blood is still there. Someone help me fill the gap where my grandpa and his 5 brothers fit in. Their names were: Frank, Arthur, Henderson, and Ripley as well as Augustus, my grandpa who I never got to meet, he died in 1972 and was born in the 1800s. Hezekiah Briggs is my fathers great, great, grandfather.

MessageI'm a direct descendant of Clement Briggs from my father's side, Dr. John C Briggs, and have been working on our family tree; obviously, I am delighted to find you! My father is 91 now, and has the diary of his grandfather, John Briggs, and their migration through Story, Iowa, into California.

MessageJoseph Briggs was my great great grandfather who was born in French Canada in 1818 and died in Stephentown, Rensselaer County, NY, in 1900. I have some evidence his family migrated up the St. Lawrence from Nova Scotia and migrated to there after the Revolution from Scituate, Plymouth County, MA. There, there is a strong possible linkage to Walter Briggs, one of the early settlers. Nailing this stuff down is like picking up mercury.

MessageHi Briggs Relatives!
My Grandmother, Mary Carolyn Briggs (married LeRoy H. Shearer), was born in Dry Run, PA, in 1899. Her sister was Dorothy Briggs (married Campbell). Their mother's name was Estella May Crouse, and their father's name was John Losha Briggs. His father's name was James E. Briggs and his mother's name was Mary Elizabeth Stalman. Our history dead ends at that point, although my grandmother used to tell me that the Briggs family had been here since the 1600s! Does anyone have any info on the oldest ancestors here? Thanks!
My original name was Ott and I chose to change it to BriggsShearer in testament to my maternal grandparents, who were wonderful people and strong Scottish English stock!
