MessageRe the Reunion.
We are very near the stage where we have to confirm our numbers with the hotel. There are approximately 50-60 places still available.
Therefore as we said we would do in order to have a 'full house' - MEMBERS WHO WISH TO BRING GUESTS MAY NOW DO SO. Book through Dave Dyson in the normal way. For those members who are still undecided, time is running out - get a move on or you could miss out
Regards to all

MessageMost of you are already aware through FB of the ongoing campaign to get formal recognition for Cpl Stewart McLaughlin for his actions on Mt Longdon. The support of both ex and serving members of 3 Para has been magnificent. Without detailing everything to date, despite formal acknowledgement from the senior echelons of the MOD, that Stewart's action's were worthy of formal recognition, the process has under current "rules", effectively been exhausted. Phase 1 of the campaign was to get formal acknowledgement, and as stated has, been a great success. From previous high profile precedents, it was no surprise that beuracracy would bar any award being made. Phase 2 of the camapign is to challenge the beuracracy that has barred this, and previuos campaigns. The barrier is the 5 year rule which prohibits retrospective consideration of awards outside this time. You will all be aware that new precedents were set in relation to Camapign Medals, in respect of the Arctic Convoy's and Bomber Command, a decision that righted a grave injustice to incredibly brave men who served in the 2nd World War. Unfortunately the review which resulted in the decision to award these Campaign Medals, did not address the issue of individual awards. The fight therefore is to set a new precedent, whereby the 5 year rule does not bar individuals from getting recognition, which in the case of Stewart McLaughlin is richly deserved.
If you are not on FB and require further info then please contact me. JR

Dear Sirs,
We would like to invite Sir Hew Pike to unveil two memorials commemorating 4 lads from 3 Para who lost their lives in the Falklands War.
If you might be able to pass this message on it would be very helpful.
The unveiling will take place after the opening of the Falklands Memorial Way on the 14th June 2014.

MessageLittle Tommy Hayes, what a grand fellow. Took us (273 Pl) through Depot in 1963/64 along with Griff Williams, Tommy Morrison and Cpl Roberts. So sorry to hear the belated news of his death, RIP Tommy.

MessageA little belatedly but I am sure we are all sorry to hear about John Easton and Kay Coates. John was a particularly good man I thought and if I remember correctly, actually turned up at one of the reunions that was held in Finchley, way back when.
For Mick B and Blandy - we know all about watches and 2 Para - we are planning our own memento to recognise 20 years - but it AIN'T a watch!!
Don't forget about booking ASAP for those who are still dithering!
Regards to all
Terry Carroll

MessageDear Sirs,

At Noon on Saturday 14th June 2014 the Falklands Memorial Way will be officially opened by the Lord-Lieutenant of Staffordshire Mr. Ian Dudson CBE.

This "Way" will link up memorials to civilian and military casualties who lost their lives during the war in 1982.

The "Way" is located in the Allied Special Forces Memorial Grove at the National Memorial Arboretum.

The "Way" has been funded by the Allied Special Forces Association to date but needs a further £800 to complete the last 75 metres. Any help with this would be most welcome.

Please contact Mike Colton (ex 22 SAS) on 07929118598 who is managing the project in the Grove. More can be found on our website, just type Memorial Grove into google.

Memorials to Mark Dodsworth, Jason Burt, Neil Grose and Ian Scrivens along with Cyril Wilde (3 Para Arnhem) will be unveiled on the day.

This is an open event and everyone is welcome, just let us know if you are attending.

Regards,
Mike Colton

MessageHi Nick Nicholson [Aussie Nick],
I'm now living in Wales just outside of Abergavenny. We moved from Bmth when I retired 5 years ago. I thought of you the other day when we were down in Cardiff and looking what was showing at the St Davids Theatre. Would you believe that appearing in a couple of weeks are the Seekers starring Judith Durham. Looking at the poster it is the original group.
Only members of the original D (Patrol) Company will realise the the point of this entry.
Hope you are well.Give me a shout on [email protected].
