MessageI have just been to see the film 'Kajaki' that some of you may have heard about. If you haven't - it is about the battalion at the Kajaki dam in Afghanistan in 2006, when a patrol walked into an unmarked old Russian minefield and the aftermath. I would hope that you all remember the incident from the news.
It is unflinchingly realistic and shows the battalion and soldiers in a great light. The acting and cinematography is fantastic.
I will say no more except GO TO SEE IT NOW while it is still on at the cinema (Vue chain). If you don't, you will ALWAYS regret it.
Regards to all.

MessageI am always entertained at the Reunions being with some of the greatest entertainers and comedians you could ever wish for.
However if there is to be a disco, will have to dig out my one piece "Travolta" suite and platform shoes. May be a bit tight. Let the music begin

MessageTerry and fellow members,
I think a DECENT disco is the way forward. The beauty of a disco is if you do not like the music played it normally finishes in 2 to 3 minutes and then will change to something else, also the audience do not have to sit quietly while the music is being played, indeed the very opposite is the norm!!
With a singer/comedian this is NOT the case and would require the audience to sit through what could be less "than a night to remember", we have all been there!!
As the entertainment need not start until the dinner has finished, the disco could be set up while we dine and therefore have not got deadlines to meet.
This is obviously only my opinion, based on years of PMC/PEC duties and trying to please all of the people all of the time!!
Feedback most welcome.

Safe Landings!
smilie

MessageJust back back off holiday and noticed the posts about having 'proper'entertainment at the Reunion - we can do great 'impromptu' ourselves (thanks Blandy et al).
Mick Bramley is quite right that the Metropole hotel provided some the first couple of times we were there. If I remember correctly, though, it consisted of a not very good singer and two naff dancers. It was very poor. Alec and Tess Cooke and me and Anne were amongst the very few that bothered to stay and watch (out of courtesy!) - everybody else remained in or retreated back to the bar! Similarly, we have previously had a disco - with the same result!!!
However, more ladies do attend now, so a DECENT disco might be worth considering and possibly a GOOD entertainer/comedian if anybody can recommend one.
I await replies!!
Regards to all
