MessageSorry to hear about Marti he was a great soldier and well respected by all who served with him.
I spoke to him before he left Orkney to go to South Africa, to get some sun on his back as he said. RIP

MessageNadyne, Just a short story about your dad. During the run up to our deployment to Borneo All of the Patrol Commanders and Seniors were sent to the HQ of the Army Intelligence at Ashford in Kent. Part of our days down there The instuctors did a playlet on an interrogation during it they spoke Russian.During the course of it your dad Marti laughed. Quick as a flash the instructors picked up on the fact that Marti could understand Russian and he was whisked out to explain to the headshed where he got his knowledge from. Of course it was all above board as I understand before rejoining 3 Para he had been working in Berlin for the Americans., Many more stories of a good friend. Chris

MessageNadyne, so sorry to hear that Marti is no longer with us. A remarkable soldier, fluent in Russian, and held in high esteem by us all. The photo was taken by me when his patrol joined us when we using the Punan Busan as guides for 'Claret' ops.
