MessageI just thought I'd see if anyone knew my Dad, Les Jones,.. Co's driver in Palestine during the troubles in late 40's. He has just been admitted to hospital for assessment as his memory has deteriorated. I did a bit of looking on the net for him a few years ago but didn't find anyone. When in the paras he was living in Tilstock, nr Whitchurch, Shropshire. If there are still any of you veterans out there i will try getting some other details. p.s,... Why would any-one step out of a perfectly good aircraft whilst it was still in flight,...??? beggers me,...me,.. I did 24 yrs Royal Navy, Fleet Air Arm,... bobbing about on the briny,..watching seagulls and waves,.. now that was the life,... Best Wishes, Stan

MessageHi guys, first time on site, and gutted to read the news of Tony Peers' passing.I had the dubious pleasure of working with Tony in Holdfast camp for 6 months where he was the armourer, and I was a super crow!He was a propper laugh and complete airborne maniac.I don't think anyone who got chased out of San Ignacio by an angry mob will forget that night, allegedly Tony had something to do with it!!I also came from Scarborough so had to avoid him while on leave in case he made me go drinking with him!I'd like to pass on my best wishes to all his relatives and mates,I know he'll be missed.
Also,Hi to you Laurie, good to see your ugly mug again, hopefully see you at a reunion soon, all the best,Tyse, the man who introduced the gay haircut to the Reg! p.s would be great to hear from any of the lads who knew me back then,as long as you're not still trying to find me so you can fill me in!cheery.

MessageHi all, I wonder if I can take up a few moments of your time. For those of you who are members of SAMA (South Atlantic medal Assoc) you will be aware that they have a virtual Garden of Remembrance for all those who fell during the Falklands war. Sadly it is not as up to date as most of us would like. For example only 5 of the 22 lads with 3 PARA have anything listed on the site. I have recently become aware from a father that information has been passed to the site but little if anything done with it. To this end I am going to try and compile as much information as I can and try to get it published. To this end I would ask if any one has details of Next of Kin of those who fell would you be kind enough to pass it on to me. I am ex 3 PARA and served in the Int Sect in 82. My work e mail address is [email protected]
Cheers
Jonnah
