We would like to also from 3 Para Reunion Club to pass on our sincere condolencesto Chicks family God Bless RIP Good evening George. Can I ask you to inform III Para Reunion club & Past & Present WOI WOII club that Chick Dempster BEM passed away & his funeral will be on 20 November at St Chads Church Rochdale OL16 1FF at 13-30 for me please. Tony and my dad, Eddie Humphreys {ex 1 & 3 PARA 1964-1979.} were good mates back in the day. My dad passed away in 1998 and the last time that I saw Tony was at my dad’s funeral. I know that Tony joined the police after leaving the Paras, but he would be retired by now. Hi George, as we were unable to get the Sherwood, we have sorted out an alternative venue for the wake after the funeral - details are The Phoenix 2 High Lane Ridgeway Sheffield S12 3XF It's a similar direction to the Sherwood, only approx 3 miles from the crematorium If you could distribute please. | Message | Ladies & Gents Good evening. since my last note on the 3 Para reunion Club Website. I can confirm I have spoken to Paula Smith again this evening and can confirm the details of the Funeral of WO2 Alan (Smudge) Smith. 3 Para will be at the City Road Crematorium 484 City Road Sheffield S2 1GD at 3.15pm on Thursday 02 November 2017. A wake will be held after the service location as yet TBC but it will be in one of Smudges many local hostelries. I can confirm that Alan passed away in his sleep on Saturday 21 October 2017 of a severe heart attack. Alan had not previously been ill prior so we were all shocked and stunned to say the least on Saturday when the news of Alan's death was broken to us. The family has requested Family Flowers only but would like any donations to go to the Airborne Forces Security Fund which looks after all our Parachute Regiment & ABF Veterans. They would like the Regiment to be represented at the service and would like Regimental Standards to be present to honor Alan and his passing. I will let members know when the location of the wake has been decided by the family. Paula is holding up well and is on a whirlwind at the moment with her family at her side to support her in sorting out Alan's final wishes. Paula would like to thank everyone or the kind messages and support she has received from everyone especially Alan's Airborne Brothers.
