Hi Terry,
As an ex member of 216 Parachute Signal Sqn. and also a member of your club I thought the members might be interested in an entry on the 216 website guest book from the OC of the currant 216 Squadron relating to the health of Major General Deane-Drummond who is in his mid 90's and up until a couple of years ago attended all of the Airborne Signals reunions at Caythorpe. The General appears to be in failing health and the OC gives his wishes for his funeral. The General is as you will know an AIRBORNE legend having been in at the start of the formation of Airborne forces .He escaped twice from the Germans and made home runs once from Italy after the first Airborne operation against the aqueducts and again during the battle of Arnhem. As a Royal Signals Officer he commanded both Parachute Regt Btns and 22 SAS. I' sure that Keith Weller the web master of the 216 site won't mind if you cut and paste the message onto the 3 Para site.
Happy New Year
