MessageAIRBORNE SHOP - ALDERSHOT (OR NOT)!!!!
I recently had reason to phone the shop in Browning Barracks to enquire about Falkland 30 merchandise,I was slightly surprised to be told by a recorded message that the phone number had changed and could now be contacted on 0115 8192173. The shop is now located in that well known AIRBORNE stronghold of NOTTINGHAM!!!!!!!
Now my memory may not be the best however during my recruit training I do not recall sharing an aircraft at Abingdon with Robin Hood nor indeed do I recall having Friar Tuck on my log on "P" Company nor Will Scarlet changing his name to Will Maroon!!!!!!!!
Another nail in the coffin of Aldershot memories maybe?

MessageAs you may have seen from Dave Dyson's post, bookings are well down on last year. Can't think why as last year was great and well attended. Come on - fingers out - make the decision and book.
To satisfy popular (!) request the AGM will be at 1615 (ie between the Rugby matches) and the Gala Dinner will be at 2000, after a 1930 reception.
It is intended to hold a short service at the War memorial near the hotel at 1030 on Sunday before people depart. I will confirm.
Regards to all

MessageReceived on gmail, There were some photo's but unable to attach.

Dear Sir,
I am ex WRAC serving 24 years. I have just returned from a visit to the Falklands, South Georgia and Antarctica. Whilst at the Falkland Islands myself and 3 others visited Mount Longdon and paid our respects, but found something confusing and hope you can clarify it for us. We noticed that at the bottom of the rock face there is a cross for Sgt McKay VC, but at the summit of Mount Longdon there is a granite block which states that this is the place Sgt McKay died. Would you be able to confirm which is correct, why are there two monuments to Sgt McKay VC and who put the granite block in place.

With hope you can solve this query.

Regards

Kathy Kerr
