MessageI've been inactive for many years but recently decided to get on the air again. As I no longer had any equipment I wasn't quite sure which of the new rigs to purchase. Your satisfaction with the IC-703 made my final decision possible. Was seriously thinking about the FT-817ND but I think the Icom is a better receiving rig. As I do more listening than sending (to what is left of marine cw traffic) I felt the front end of the Icom was superior. I live half the year in France, so when I return in October I will give you a call on one of the bands, probably 20 or 30 meters. I will be restricted as far as antennas go as space very restricted there...and here in upstate NY.

MessageI ran a pye vanguard (20 watts)on 144.650 before packet took over the channel, now that packet has nearly gone why not use the proper (was well known) calling channel of 144.650 again as many of us still have Am rigs on that channel ? With beter mod and recivers most of the NEW Rigs are realy bad on there smilie AM MOD. 73 DE Barry G8PME smilie

MessageGood evening Roger,

Really Great Site, ,not finished yet to read all those interesting articles. I'm a QRp'er myself & have an FT-817 & Icom IC-575A 10 watts the all mode dual bander for 28/50 MHz. So we have same taste as we love both QRp,28/50 MHz & Islands. I'm an island chaser for years, and the info you give on your site about south atlantic islands are very nice & useful, a must to read!!!

Keep on the good work & see you on 10 or 6 or both Hi! Hi!
