MessageWe moved to Wymondham in May 2004 from Essex and think it a great place to live. We love the old town and all it's history and the Abbey is a wonderful place too. You have a really good web-site full of interesting information. Thank you.

MessageWorked on your Abbey as a Steeplejack for J.Carey & sons,i was 21 years of age at the time now 48 years of age,i will never forget at the time we were lodging at the Park Farm Hotel around the corner and i needed to come back to the abbey late in the evening as i had forgot some belongings as i had the key i let my self in,the place was in complete darkness apart from the light above the organ where the organ was playing but there was no one there to play it.Went straight back out and picked up my belongings the next day. smilie

MessageExcellent website and lovely church. I would love to visit someday. I came here looking for information on my D'Aubigny/D'Albini/Abney family line and the site was most helpful in clearing up a couple of points for me.

MessageI had never visited the Abbey of which I new of,however I payed a visit last Saturday to see the building itself and its Architecture. I found the old tower very interesting in its structure and from the centre looking up even more facinating, due to the way the cobald quads had been erected to support the top section, this structurally is unusual and I had not seen anything like it before. The people there was very helpful and gave me a tremendious amount of information. The reason why I had come is partly due to myself having always been involved with the construction industry all my life since I was 13 years old and now being semi retired. Since christmas I have been on a strange journey, which came completly out of nowhere. It as started in East London, then Cambridge and it as now sent me here for reasons I am at this time not quite sure of. This was something my father told me when I was a child and recently on reflection now I have some time, I have started to find my family past. They were all in construction and used to work in a team of seven.I always wonder as a young man how I could resolve building problems with great ease with out even considering them, when people used to ask me to resolve problems especially structures I always come up with answers, which worked,I used to get and still do mental pictures in three D dimesions, I now believe it is locked within my DNA like some sort of mapping system. This Abbey is a great piece of history and long may it live.
