MessagePriya Mitrulaku Sankranti Panduga Subahaakankshalu

Sankranti is an important festival for Telugus
and we look forward to this festival. With
crops harvested people have both money and leisure to make merry with. Farmers give new
clothes and grains to the workers who work for them.
The first day is Bhogi Panduga, which is also the
festival of enjoyment. Becouse after toiling in the fields, bring in the harvest and enjoy the
fruits of their labour.
The second day is Makara Sankranti. We worship
the Sun God and our encestors. We cook newly
harvested rice for the first time on that day.
Symbolically, the first harvest is offered to
the Almighty and that is Sankranti. Salutations
to the supream Lord.
In fact the sun itself symbolising all that the
Sankranti Panduga stands for. The message of the
sun is the message of light, unity, impartiality,
selflessness and perfection of the elements of
Karma Yoga. The sun shines on all equally, it is
the true benefactor of all beings.
The third day is Kanuma, cattle are bathed and
their horns polished, painted in bright colours
and garlands of flowers are placed around their
necks.(Holy Mother)
Muggu is an essential part of Bhogi and Sankranti
Panduga. After cleening the courtyard we sprinkle
cow dung water and draw either with lime powder
or rice flour, which is called MUGGU.
Every Telugu home should have Muggu or Muggulu
for Bhogi, Sankranti and other pandugalu.

Happy Sankranti.
