MessageHi Anna
Glad to hear you've got your bed at last and I hope by now you've found you way to your new house!Don't they sell maps in Guadalajara?
You sound as if you are having a wild time socially smilie and believe you me you are not
missing anything weatherwise in the UK - as your mam says it is getting quite cold now.
Aunie Mags send her best wishes. Joanie and I took her to Royal Quays yesterday to shop. She had been feeling the cold so she was delighted with her purchase of a mink bedspread- very Marilyn Monroe! Joanie sends her best wishes and says she will definitely log on soon and talk to you . She has been kept very busy recently with her managerial responsibilities at work. What a motley crew! But that's another story! It sounds as if she is really gettting the hang of her motorbike lessons but she will want to give you the details herself. I am typing this on Sunday and will make my first work visit to London this Friday and after that it is back on the tread mill but as you say- NOT LONG NOW! smilieYour diary is really good to read as it makes me think of the colour, excitement and freedom which awaits me after Christmas( if not the cute blokes!) What do you fancy for your 21 st birthday? Let me know if there is anything in particular you want.
Hola
Mau smilie

Off tomorrow to spend BHW with Super Chris in a tent somewhere. I hope he doesn't snore, or one of us (him) will end up sleeping in my car!

MessageDear Annie
We tried for half an hour to 'phone you last night but could not get through. I think the lines to Mexico must be pretty busy at 6pm (their time) Just wanted you to know that we tried.
Hope your OK. I'm writing from work so time is limited but our computer arrives on 10th September
so I will be sending you regular updates. Fran has my car today so I'm waiting to be picked up. She is getting her stuff together to start Uni but has been told that her new halls won't be ready for a month. They are putting her up in a hotel until then : but she has to share the hotel room : which does not please her! Dad has begun work on the new bathroom and has taken off the bathroom door which makes a bath or shower a draughty affair! It may be completed by the time you get back but from past experience I cannot promise. Have you managed to shop for a cheap guitar? If not, perhaps it would be wise to go with one of your Mexican friends so they are less likely to rip you off. I also have lots of questions about Mexico but I will save them for a later date.
Summer is now definitely drawing to an end and the nights are getting cold. If you were home you'd have the central heating and fire on full blast! You should be happy to miss one British winter.
Telephone tonight if you can but if there are any problems with the lines leave a message on your blog.
Keep taking photos. I would love to see your room and more of your friends.
Lots of love
Mam xxx

MessageHeylo!

Don't worry about asking questions Mau smilie I really enjoy reading your posts. I know it seems like i made a typing error, but the Uni of Guadalajara really does have 180,000 students, not 18,000. This is all of the departments combined of course. Each department is pretty much one Leeds Uni. Mad, eh?

I think my new house is nearer to my campus but only just. There are a few different sites for the Arts dept. so i am very near one but unforch not the building i'm gonna be in most of the time.
I'm hoping to move in in the next few days, as I'm getting a bed delivered tomorrow!
Rosa is at Uni but she is at a completely different campus unfortunately.
As for mexican food, when I ate with Rebeca's family they were just drinking water...I think they drink a lot of juice too...but there doesn't seem to be much wine about.
I'll send you a seperate email with my address too smilie
Try not to dread work too much...not long to go now smilie

Ste - I am very wary of bottom biting spiders and am in the routine of checking the toilet regularly as am still in shock from the mammoth spider i saw on the bus about a week ago. Arachnophobia-tastic.
What's this with all the coffee madness? You a starbucks whore now? smilie
I'm not so much gringa as guera, which is apparently what they call all white girls...and despite nearly two weeks here, I'd put money on you being much browner than me still...hehe..

xxxx

PS: When you off to Murcia again?x

MessageHi Anna!
No wonder you feel like a dizzy penguin -18,000 students is more than a crowd!
Have you moved into your house yet ? Will you still hav e to make as long a journey into Uni when you do or is it nearer?
It's good to hear you have seen Ed as you can always speak English together if you get exhausted by speaking spanish. It will be great to take lessons in spanish guitar and ceramics- that is if you have tracked down the elusive Marcela yet.
Try to avoid being out late alone- It's bound to get easier when you move in to your house and start becomijng familiar with bus times etc. Is Rosa studying at Uni? Perhaps she attends another campus.
The food sounds very interesting. Do the Mexicans drink wine mainly or beer with their meals?
I realise this message is simply a list of questions but I am genuinely interested in the answers. It's understandable you feel homesick at the moment as the culture is so different but I'm sure you'll start to feel more at home when you move into your house. What's your address so I can send you cards etc?
I am back at work next week smilie -but I intend to log on weekly.
Take care of yourself!
Love Mau

Messagewhat the hell is Uk! yanks!

hollo milesy. i drank too many espressos at work today and so i am still buzzing at 4:21 in the morning. its the espresso challenge you see- you have to drink as many as you can in one shift. the record is 34 but i could only manage 12 today before i started shaking.

mexico sounds cool... bit scary tho. do they think you are a gringo?

take care and keep going! watch out for those spiders that crawl up the toilet and bite you!

MessageHello all

Thankyou for your lovely messages all of you smilie

James...thanks for the typing tip...it worked! However I am still at a loss about how to exclaim anything here (the ! seems to be screwing up) as do the .... and -.
Please help me Rutherford. Without my dramatic pauses, dashy thingies and exclamations my life is merely dull. If you could put the expression back into it I'd be sincerely grateful. (And before you ask I don't know why stuff works on the guestbook and not on the actual blog!)

Chris - sorry to disappoint you but as of yet have not bought a sombrero. Am making do with a yellow bandanna (bandANNA geddit? - sorry I know...very bad) that makes me look vaguely egghead like. Am contemplating buying a mariachi outfit though. You've got to make the effort to fit in now, haven't you?

Sarai it is so so great to hear from you!! How long have you been in Yorkshire? You in Leeds territory at all? (Sadly not that I can visit you anymore but just curious.) Hope you're having a great time anyway and keep in touch smilie
Sorry this is pretty impersonal...replying to everybody on the guestbook and not by email but at the moment I have limited time and I want to get home before it gets too too dark.
