MessageI read your article Discovery at Beavers' Mill in the Fall 2005 issue of The Pittsylvania Packet, Number 58, pages 10-16, published by the Pittsylvania Historical Society. It was very interesting, especially since we have common ancestors.
I found your website online and have thoroughly enjoyed reading about the Beavers Family and looking at the photographs of your excavation.
Congratulations on your find, and kudos to you for working so diligently to save and donate the water wheel, mill timbers and artifacts to the Virginia Historical Society Museum in Richmond, Virginia!

MessageFound your web site trying to research a button I found today in Lynn Massachusetts. The pond is located on the Lynn/Salem/Peabody line and is the site of an old hotel and earlier estate of one of the areas first settlers.
The buton looks just like the one you found. It says standard colour on the top and center bottom treble gilt with a crown over it. I thought it was interesting that this was found in SC and Mass.
Thank you for your web site. Any questions please feel free to write.
Mike

MessageHi,
I enjoyed viewing your website! You did a wonderful job with it, and with the research of the mill.

I too have a website about Bells Mill, a gristmill ruin on Deep River in Randolph County, North Carolina. I invite you to view my website. The address is: http://home.earthlink.net/~glstrader/

Email me if you wish, perhaps we can compare notes. Again a thumbs up on a super job! smilie

MessageIt's strange to find that the name Coleman came up in your research. Mama's grandfather was Mose Coleman who owned a large farm off Iris Lane. I hope to retire soon & wish we could to go to the old YMCA Daycamp at Twin Arches & check out the site of the old mill there. Since my brother Frankie is a plumber & I work at the IRS,we are good at bailing stuff when you need help next time.

Very nice and informative website. I will include this in my favorites so I can refer to it often. Please keep me informed about the progress of the early water wheel.
