MessageJust found this site. I know our ancestors came from SW England. Half of the settlers in Newfoundland, Canada in the 17 and 18 hundreds came from England. I am looking for the oldest town in England with the Critch surname.

MessageJust found this website, love to read about Nonington over the years, my Grandfather being mentioned here as the coal man, which I remember well from my childhod.
I spent many a happy day in the village, playing in the park and later working on the farms for the Groombridge family

MessageHere I am again! How is everyone? I am very pleased to receive the Parish Mag each month & thank whoever sends it to me. It used to be Doreen Dabbs, but I know she gave up doing this service for St.Mary's after many years of lovingly sending Mags who no longer live in Nonington. I'm puzzled why the Church Services for the other villages in the Benefice are not ncluded on that super calendar in the Mag each month. For an Anglican, even in these days of ecumenism, receiving Communion from an Anglican priest is very important & this could provide the information that one would need. Also what about similar info from the Roman Catholic Church in Aylesham? Just an idea. My love to all who remember us. Valerie & David

MessageMy Mum Elsie Garlinge was adopted by Emily and Arthur Nelson of Mill Lane. I spent all my happy childhood at was my family home, from the war onwards and still consider their children Dennis and Ann as my true family. Now at 67 I still remember all my fond memories of those times. I still visit from the North East when I can, although the family home is now sold.
Beautiful place and so many memories.
