Thank you for visiting my guest book. Thanks to those who have signed it, stating who you're looking for, and about your roots. Do you know the province or area in Poland your family was from? Did your relatives immigrate to America, another country, or is your family still in Poland? I love hearing other people's stories. I find it inspiring. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, Julie

Note:  In the blog title section, under "pages" there is now a "blog title surname index" page. This index I created is for names you write about. If you would like your guestbook post to be a blog post, let me know and I'd be happy to share your story.

MessageThanks Linda! Wow, same butcher shop for so long! That's really cool. And pretty amazing it survived through so many wars. I have some Hoffman relatives on another family line, but spelled with one "N". They came from Germany pre 1800 to Lincoln/Gaston County, NC. So I find it interesting that Hoffmann is a Polish name. Thanks! -Julie smilie

MessageHi,
I just came across your blog and it's fascinating! My Grandfather immigrated from Poland (Prussia) to Chicago in 1911 and his brother and brother's wife before him around 1900 and again in 1909 with his sister Wanda. Our family name is Hoffmann and my family still lives in the same Polish Village of Sierakow, where they have lived for over 200 years. They still own the same butcher shop in the square there. I reconnected with my cousin Marek Hoffmann through the internet several years ago. All of the original family that immigrated to Chicago are gone. Only my Dad (who is 84) remains from the original family.

Nice to meet you here. smilie

MessageThanks Herschel! I can't find Zywiec-Zablocie or Zablocie-Zywiec on maps, but I know the name exists, because it's written on a parish record. So I'm happy to see you use this name. Do you know if this place goes by a different name today? And do you know what province or area it is considered today? Like is it considered part of Krakow? I will keep my eyes open for your family name Scharf. Much appreciated. Julie smilie

MessageHey Julie!
You're really getting the technology down for this stuff! I'm always fascinated by what you find out both technologically and genealogically.

Keep on finding!
