MessageHere I was thinking I had read and seen everything to do with 84 Charing Cross Road, and then I stumble upon this remarkable site. Thank you so much for providing these images and accounts of the staff who worked at Marks & Co. over the years.

MessageVisited this site having just finished reading "Between Silk and Cyanide" by Leo Marks(Ben Marks son). In itself a remarkable story but it was its continual reference to "84" throughout the book that caused me to follow it up. I have obtained the film and look forward to seeing it.

Your site might benefit by including Leo Marks and his remarkable story in it's references.

MessageThis is a wonderful site. I have been a fan of the book, and movie for many years, and this has filled in some of the gaps that just haven't been given out. I have it bookmarked and intend on coming back from time to time. The pictures and information are first rate.

MessageJust finished reading the book, and at the end I felt a sense of emptiness, so I tried to fill it looking for some more information. I found this interesting site, which tells the real story of the library and the people who were working there. Your photos help me to give a face and an image to a place and the life that was around.
Please keep on treasuring and keeping the memory: it's a worthy task.

MessageThanks very much indeed for this website. I hugely enjoyed the book and the movie and was somehow saddened realising that the beautiful art of letter writing is being devoured by the likes of Facebook and 140-character long Twitter feeds! Or may be it has been devoured already. I guess denial is my best antidote.

MessageI have just seen the movie and loved it so looked information on it on the computer and ...here I am. I also love old books plus I am a Librarian! I am 66 and only work half time but want to work till I am 80! So sad that the main characters never met but maybe that is what made the film so appealing.
Thanks for this website.

MessageWhat a fantastic find. Have loved the book since its publication, and have just booked to see an amateur production with three friends (who have never heard of the book). I read that the apartment block Helene Hanff lived in for many years is now called "Charing Cross House". You can see it on google earth!
