MessageI heard the story of the Oceanos in National Public Radio, here in Ohio. It was moving to hear how a cruise captain's cowardly lack of action was replaced with the heroic and decided action of the cruise's musicians and a magician. The story tells me that leadership is an inborn trait, so we cannot always trust those in leadership positions to react like true leaders when unexpected danger arises. Leadership thus not being dependent on social status or profession. A great real-life story which thankfully had a happy ending. Thanks for your blog!

MessageHi - I have a query that has been bothering me for many years - the cruise itinerary states that we were due to head for Port Elizabeth (yet we headed to East London and then we were off to ???? and ended up sinking.... were we headed for Port Elizabeth? It doesn't make sense as we left Cape Town and sailed past PE to EL instead... please clarify for me smilie And any pictures anyone has that they would let me use in my short story would be most appreciated please as I would like to publish soon but have no pictures. Looking forward to any feedback and pictures. [email protected]

MessageMy husband, two sons and I were passengers on the Oceanos over New Year's 1986-87. We were in cabin PO3. I can see it on the deck plans. My recollection was of a very musty (moldy) smell to that deck. I remember the deck as actually being below the water line. Do you know if this was true? Please email me if you know.
