Message(I was invited by Alyanna Busa, my co-pastor's daughter)

It is interesting to know that Pasig River can serve as a mirror of the progress and degeneration of the Philippines. Many decades ago it has been a cradle of trade and industry of the country. However, as time passes by the government and people failed to keep it clean and safe. People became undisciplined and threw their rubbish directly at the river showing the lack of quality of their lives.

The Philippines’ population of 86 Millions where 40% of the people are living with less than a hundred pesos a day and over 60 % living below the poverty line can be likened to the Pasig River of its’ today’s condition due to insensitivity of the government to provide a decent living to its people.

MessageIt is good to know that the Philippine government is holding project for the rehabilitation of the Pasig River. History tells about the significant symbolism the river represents to the development of the nation even during the pre-Spanish colonial period. Many can read from the writings of historians that trade, commerce, tradition and culture once flourished within this river.

MessageI was invited by my sister Cecilia Tria to visit this website.

Since I was a child, I have already been used to see the polluted waters of the Ilog Pasig. I also heard some stories about the Ilog Pasig from the grandmother of my bestfriend. She told us that before during her childhood years the waters of Ilog Pasig used to be clean. It is very sad to see that now the waters of the said river is very polluted. smilie It is not only an eye sore but also has some adverse effects to the people exposed to it.
I know that a project was launched entitled “Piso Para sa Pasig.” I think that projects like this should be greatly encouraged by the government so that in some way the glory of the Ilog Pasig may be restored. smilie The people should also be made aware of the consequences of their abuse of their surroundings especially the Ilog Pasig.
This website is a good one since it can serve as an eye opener to those people who are not much exposed to the destitute state of Ilog Pasig or even to those people who are indifferent to these kind of things. smilie

The transformation of the Pasig River from being a beautiful then and to its present ugly condition can be well stated by borrowing Mister Danny’s words; “People before works here as fishermen, but now, works as a garbage collector.” That’s illustrates the big difference of the Pasig River before and of the Pasig River of today. Before fishermen were “fishing fish” for livelihood but now people like Mister Danny are “fishing garbage” for livelihood. What a contrast!

I think there is still hope to reverse the continuing deterioration of Pasig River if people living in the area and the government takes an honest to goodness measures to bring back its’ lost glory. If there is time to clean the river it is NOW!

Messagesabi sakin ng papa ko na dati, yung ilog pasig daw ang linis. as in. sobrang linaw daw na pwede mo makita yung ilalim ng river. sana maging ganon ulit yung ilog pasig, kasi in a way, the river represents the country and its people. grabe na ang nangyayari sa pinas ngayon. kung magawa ng government na linisin ang ilog pasig, baka, kahit papaano, magkatiwala ang mga tao na ang ating "corrupt" government ay kaya pa ring magpakatino. smilie

shucks, sorry na-click ko yung private
