This is a nice site. Dahil sa corruption hindi na nag-improve and pasig river. Nagworsen pa. Naging ok na sana nung ngtyo ng project 4 piso para sa pasig...pero after some improvements or little improvements wala na rin ngyari. Para sa kin, d only way na buhayin ang pasig river is to stop corruption. smilie

MessageI’m Joyce Anne Torres. I recently graduated from USTHS. I was invited here by Cecilia Tria.

It is sad to know that the Ilog Pasig that was once a very good source of living is now overly abused. When one passes by the said river, one can clearly see the murky water. The people caused all of this pollution. And who are badly affected? Isn’t it the said people also are the ones who are reaping the bitter fruit of their wrongdoings? smilie smilie smilie
We should just remember that all the things we do to our environment will get back to us in the future. That is why we should try to be responsible individuals so that we can make our surroundings clean and safe for the future generations to live in. smilie smilie smilie

MessageCan one still go to Pasig River to wash clothes today? A big NO!

Centuries ago this river was the primary source of water for the river dwellers called “Taga-ilogs.” They made their daily activities in the river like bathing, washing clothes and many others. In fact, they used to submerge their newly born babies in the river.

But now, no one can dare to do those things except of throwing garbage to once a full of life river.

(I was invited by Ptr. Busa's daughter, Alyanna Faith Busa of II-Edison)

It’s very interesting to know that the Pasig River was the center of trade and commerce even before the Spaniards came to the country. And it was due to its strategic location for commerce that the Spanish conquistadors were eager to go to Manila and establish the capital there.

MessagePasig River was clean and full of life many decades ago. But now you cannot even see an evident of life. In fact, it is now taking lives of people due to many microorganisms that could bring much kind of diseases to those who can get in contact with the river. Once upon a time the river was a source of life but now can bring death to once life.

By the way, I was invited by Alyanna Busa to explore this site.

MessageThis is a wonderful website. It gives one’s information of the history of the Philippines vis-à-vis its Mother Nature gift of Pasig River.

One can understand also how the once beautiful river became a dreadful river after several decades. This website is very insightful and full of hope for those people who are longing to see the past glory of the river regained.
