MessageHey everybody. I just wanted to let you all know that Joe Don is involved in a project at my college. I have the honor and privilege to be in several scenes with him. It is a revisit of Dave Brubeck's Jazz Opera "The Real Ambassadors".

As of right now, it is invitation only, and the performances are this weekend, but if it gets picked up and actually performed to the public, I hope Joe Don will remain a part of it.

BTW, he is playing the part of Ike Eisenhower.

MessageThat sounds interesting Katie ...

His new film, "Strange Wilderness" won't reach Ireland until April 08, if you've seen it already leave a review in the guestbook - looks like fun.

MessageGood to know there's someone with talent to put good ole Groesbeck, Tx on the map! I've heard plenty of Joe Don Baker stories from my aunt, which went to High School with him..oh yeah, and dated him as well! smilie

MessageHi Mr. Baker, Hope you get to read this, I recently showed my 14 year old son the original "Walking Tall" film, your film! He had already seen the remake with the "Rock".

Once he saw the original storyline and how you played the role, he understood how original audiences felt when they clapped and cheered in the theaters after your movie ended. It's a great day when young people can be won over by classic films and storylines instead of too many stunts and explosions.

MessageDear Joe Don,
I'm originally from Teague and just wanted to say what a fan I have been ever since I saw "Walking Tall" at the Drive-In in Fairfield. I work for an engineering firm and we currently have a project going on in Groesbeck. I tell all of our out of town visitors (we recently had a UV rep in from London, Ontario) that this is the hometown of Joe Don Baker. They are always pleasantly surprised and pleased. I have not met anyone yet who is not a fan. At any rate, I am also an avid Phil Karlson fan, a director for whom I know you were a central personality during his later phase. Let me just take this opportunity to say "Thank You" for all of the great work you have given us. I had the priveledge of showing my godson your two Karlson films last night, and he is already a big fan. God bless.
Todd

MessageHave been a Joe Don Baker fan for quite a while. Excellent performance in Cape Fear. Question. Why did Joe Don Baker not play Bufford Pusser in Walking Tall 2 and 3?

Definite legacy...on a great caracter and performance lost by Mr. Svenson...no offense
